After all the analysis and build-up on fight week this week, my predictions for UFC 196: McGregor vs. Diaz are in.

The official weigh-ins for the event, which were held on Friday in Las Vegas (watch here) further deepened my belief that both champions will prevail on Saturday night.

UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Holly Holm looked sharp and ever-ready to retain her title against Meisha Tate. There will be no letdown for Holly in this contest. The big difference in my mind as it was with Ronda Rousey is Holm’s camp with Jackson/Winkeljohn based out of New Mexico. She has all the support from her team as well as the best training partners to push her while Tate’s camp is limited.

I am almost sure Meisha is not training with any UFC champions nor recieving input from the top coaches in all of MMA, certainly not on the level of Holm’s training partners and coaches. Holm will be ultra prepared with a rock solid game plan to go with her world class skills. That is a tough combination to top.

“Cupcake” Tate also seems to block punches with her face and this fight will be no different. She will struggle trying to drag “The Preacher’s Daughter” to the ground and will take massive punishment in the process. I am picking the champion by third-round (vicious) KO.

UFC officially announced the opponent for Dominick Cruz’s first title defense for his latest run as UFC Bantamweight Champion at the UFC: “Unstoppable” press conference held prior to the official UFC 196: McGregor vs. Diaz weigh-ins on Friday in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Cruz was stripped of the 135-pound title after prolonged inactivity due to injuries, but recaptured the belt in his latest comeback fight against the now former UFC Bantamweight Champion, TJ Dillashaw.

At the UFC “Unstoppable” press conference to announce and kick-off the promotion for UFC’s upcoming fights for April through June, UFC President Dana White announced Cruz will compete in the long-awaited trilogy bout against longtime career rival “The California Kid” Urijah Faber.

The Cruz-Faber III bout will serve as the co-main event for UFC 199 on Saturday, June 4, 2016.

As you can see in the video above, things got heated between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz at the pre-fight press conference for UFC 196. McGregor swatted Diaz’s hand away from him, then the two and their respective camps had to be separated.

The Nevada Athletic Commission announced on Friday that they would not be reprimanding anyone following the scuffle.

“UFC president Dana White handled the situation,” Bob Bennett, NAC executive director said in a statement.

Back in 2014, a much more physical press conference incident between Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones resulted in fines and community service for both men.

Diaz did not suffer any type of wrist injury from the contact.
