UFC middleweight prospect Roman Dolidze wants the most hyped contender in all of MMA next, Khamzat Chimaev, following a dominant stoppage victory over no. 8 ranked Jack Hermansson last night at UFC Orlando.

Dolidze put on the performance of his career against Hermansson; once taken down in the opening round, he threatened Hermansson with a guillotine choke, before securing a beautiful armbar sweep not long thereafter.

In round two, Dolidze would end up on his back again, only to attempt another armbar, later transitioning to an inverted triangle.

Next he’d lock up a reverse calf slicer, flattening Hermansson out on the mat as he pounded away en route to a TKO victory at 4:06 of round two.

The 34 year old Georgian talent took an opportunity to call out undefeated Khamzat Chimaev in his post-fight interview:

“I think if he will not do (fight) anymore at 170 (lbs), and he will be 185, he will need some ranked opponent. And I think it’s a good opportunity for him to go in top 10, and for me (it’s a) good opportunity for me to fight with a name like him one more time. I know this guy, he’s a good person and I also respect him like a fighter. That’s why I want to fight him, (he’s) like one of the best names in the game.

Dolidze continued: “He is very good wrestler, high level, but I’m also a very good, high level athlete.”

Roman Dolidze is now 12-1 as a professional with this victory, and he’s now on a four-fight win streak with three finishes.

Of those three finishes, the first two came via KO against Kyle Daukaus and Phil Hawes, before picking up this TKO victory last night, all three of which earned him Performance of the Night awards.

With this win, Dolidze should find himself inside the top 10 of the UFC’s middleweight division this coming week.

Kevin Holland battled former two-time UFC welterweight title challenger Stephen Thompson in last nights main event of the evening at UFC on ESPN 42, and suffered a pretty gruesome hand injury in the process.

Following four rounds of all-out action between the two, Kevin Holland’s corner decided to throw in the towel and save their fighter from taking more damage.

In his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier, Holland stated that he injured his hand in the opening round:

“I think I hurt him in the first round and after that it was hurting. It is what it is.”

Holland’s manager, Oren Hodak, had the following to say on the matter:

“(Holland) Broke his right hand landing a cross in the first round. (His) Hand is very swollen, (and Holland is) being transported to the hospital. Congrats to (Thompson) and team.”

Holland got his full diagnosis a few hours later, where he stated: “Hard head brother lol. I broke not one, but three knuckles on it. Respect.”

Ironically, Thompson also stated that his hands hurt in his post-fight interview following their 20-minute war:

“He’s tough as nails. I mean, both of my hands hurt right now because of his hard noggin. But Kevin Holland is a beast.”

Thompson also partially landed a number of round kicks to the head of Holland, we say partially because Holland absorbed much of the impact from them on that same right hand. That couldn’t have helped matters any.

Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson continues to show he’s still one the best fighters in the world at 170 lbs with this victory.

At 39 years of age, that’s an incredibly impressive feat.

As for Kevin Holland, he’ll need some time away to heal his hand before likely returning mid-2023.

UFC heavyweight knockout ace, Tai Tuivasa slipped to his second consecutive loss last night on the main card of UFC Fight Night Orlando in Florida, however, insists he will bounce back from his quickfire stoppage defeat to Russian finisher, Sergei Pavlovich.

Tuivasa, a fan-favorite knockout artist, featured on the main card of the promotion’s first outing in Orlando in seven years against the streaking former M-1 Global heavyweight champion, Pavlovich.

Looking to return to the winner’s enclosure, Tuivasa dropped a quickfire first round knockout loss to Pavlovich – who found home often and early to score a 45-second knockout win, stopping the Australian with a slew of strikes at the fence.

Tuivasa had earlier headlined UFC Paris this summer against former interim titleholder, Ciryl Gane – seeing his impressive streak of five straight victories – which includes knockouts of Derrick Lewis, Augusto Sakai, and Greg Hardy, snapped by the Frenchman.

Michael Bisping critical of Kevin Holland’s performance at UFC Orlando: ‘That was not high fight IQ’

Former undisputed UFC middleweight champion, Michael Bisping has criticized the performance of welterweight striker, Kevin Holland in the Riverside native’s fifth round corner stoppage TKO loss to former title chaser, Stephen Thompson at UFC Orlando last night, questioning the former’s fight IQ, or lack thereof, in fact.

Headlining UFC Orlando in the promotion’s first outing in the city since December 2015, Kevin Holland slumped to his second consecutive loss against two-time welterweight title challenger, Thompson, having dropped a first round D’Arce choke submission loss to Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 279 in September.

Taking on Simpsonville striker, Thompson in his fourth main event under the banner of the UFC, Kevin Holland turned in a Fight of the Night-earning performance against the latter, however, was stopped in his own corner before the beginning of the fifth round, after fracturing his right hand earlier in the clash.

Michael Bisping critical of Kevin Holland’s outing at UFC Orlando

Questioning the high-level fight IQ of Holland following last night’s loss to veteran kickboxing star, Thompson, the above-mentioned, Bisping urged the Californian to remember that the sport was not a contest of popularity.

“We see all the time, people say, ‘The first one to shoot is a coward,’” Michael Bisping said on the ESPN+ post-fight show. “But then guess what, people shoot, because you know what, it’s allowed in the rules. It’s a mixed martial arts contest. This was one of the first times, and maybe the only time, I’ve actually seen somebody truly live up to that.”

“Kevin Holland had top position. Clearly. A couple of times, he was like, ‘No, no, no. We’re going to strike. That’s what we came here to do.’ I believe he will regret that decision going forward, because that was his ego getting the better of him. This is not a popularity contest in terms of, ‘Oh, everyone thinks I’m a real badass guy.’ No, you come here to win a fight. This is high stakes. Do you want to be a champion? Do you want to earn a lot of money?”

“Do you want to be known as one of the best fighters in the world? Or a guy who puts on a show and possibly gives away a victory. That was not high fight IQ.” (Transcribed by MMA Fighting)

Also suffering a hand injury in last night’s ‘Sunshine State’ main event, Thompson revealed he fractured his left hand during the fight.

The former two-time title challenger snapped a run of two consecutive losses to grappling-heavy opponents, Gilbert Burns, and Belal Muhammad.
