UFC 248 will go down tomorrow night (Sat. March 7, 2020) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mixed martial arts (MMA) fans will witness the first title defence of strawweight champion Weili Zhang who will face off against bitter rival and former titlist Joanna Jedrzejczyk in the co-main event of the evening.

UFC 248 Staff Predictions

Abinhav Kini: I am edging towards Joanna coming out on top in a closely-contested five-round war. Zhang is the favorite for a reason and is one of the best fighters in the world. However, I feel Joanna has a fire in her that will help her become champion again. (Prediction: Joanna Jedrzejczyk)

Cole Shelton:
Zhang vs. Joanna might be the most intriguing fight on this card for me.
Although Zhang is the champ, she’s only 4-0 and really only fought one top-tier
strawweight so how good she truly is, is still uncertain. In this fight, I
think the champ will start out strong and win the early rounds but Joanna will
come back strong and win the final three rounds to edge out a decision and
become the new strawweight champion (Prediction: Joanna Jedrzejczyk)

Ryan Galloway:
In the Co-Main event at UFC 248, Weili Zhang vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk I believe
Zhang gets it done in the first round via TKO. The power she carries, her
pressure combined with the ability to bait her opponents in will prove to be
too much for Joanna. I think we will see a quick one. (Prediction: Weili Zhang)

Timmy Moran: The most
exciting fight on the card according to Dana White comes in the co-main event
between the champion Zang Weili and the former champ Joanna Jedrzejczyk. Dana
has good reason to be excited because the Zhang and Joanna will happily
exchange on the feet as well as the ground. Although Joanna has the experience
edge in title fights, Zhang represents the new era of strawweights and will
succeed in her first title defense. (Prediction: Weili Zhang)

Jordan Ellis:
Joanna Jedrzejczyk has looked excellent for about 95% of her UFC run. The
former strawweight queen has only fallen to Rose Namajunas and Valentina Shevchenko.
So, the question is do I think Weili Zhang is of the same calibre? The answer
no. Unless Zhang comes out fast and catches Jedrzejczyk cold early I can’t see
her winning. I pick Jedrzejczyk to regain her title over five rounds. (Prediction:
Joanna Jedrzejczyk)

UFC Norfolk takes place tonight at the Chartway Arena in Norfolk, Virignia. It’ll be the second event held in the city by the promotion.

The main event features a showdown for the UFC flyweight title recently vacated by former champion Henry Cejudo. However due to Deiveson Figueiredo missing weight he can no longer win the title. Only Joseph Benavidez is eligible to capture the belt with a win.

We here at LowKickMMA have compiled our UFC Norfolk staff predictions for the Benavidez vs. Figueredo main event. Check them out below.

Jordan Ellis

I’ve been going back and forth on this fight all week. Finally, I made my mind up when Deiveson Figueredo missed weight yesterday morning. After a clearly difficult cut he will now be potentially compromised in a fight he can no longer become champion in. I expect this to work in the favour of Joseph Benavidez. He should finally capture UFC gold on his third attempt. I doubt he’ll be able to finish the fight though and will most likely pick up the decision win.
(Prediction: Joseph Benavidez)

Abhinav Kini

This should be a very high-level contest. Figueiredo is one of the top flyweights out there with just the sole defeat to Formiga, but I still feel Benavidez has what it takes to get the win and finally become a UFC champion. I see him winning a unanimous decision.
(Prediction: Joseph Benavidez)

Ryan Galloway

In the main event at UFC Norfolk, Benavidez vs Figueiredo I predict Benavidez finding the TKO finish within 3 rounds. I see Benavidez coming out fast pressing the action utilizing his kicks to wear down at Figueiredo’s legs and body, eventually finding a home for that power right hand and finally capturing the Flyweight championship.
(Prediction: Joseph Benavidez)

UFC 247 Staff Predictions

UFC 247 will go down tomorrow (Sat. February 8, 2020) from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. Mixed martial arts (MMA) fans will witness yet another defense of the light heavyweight championship by Jon Jones, who takes on undefeated challenger Dominick Reyes.

It will be the first UFC title bout of 2020. We here at LowKickMMA have compiled our UFC 247 staff predictions for the Jones vs. Reyes main event. Check them out below.

UFC 247 Staff Predictions

Jon Fuentes:

Dominick Reyes has all the tools to beat Jon Jones. He’ll be short in the reach department – as all Jones’ opponents are – but he matches Jones in height, brings knockout power to the table, and has a gas tank to go all five rounds. With that being said, Jones is overall the better mixed martial artist. He has superior striking, wrestling, and jiu-jitsu. Not to say Reyes doesn’t have the chance to land that one big punch, but I don’t see it happening. I got Jones winning this with a lopsided decision, or finishing the fight late. (Prediction: Jon Jones)

Abhinav Kini:

At the risk of looking silly, I’m going to go with Dominick Reyes. He has the size, length, and knockout power to challenge Jones, and the way everyone is overlooking him so easily, along with the last two performances of Jones, I think we could be in store for a huge upset. (Prediction: Dominick Reyes)

Jordan Ellis

As with every Jon Jones fight, I’m favoring the light heavyweight king to pick up the win. Dominick Reyes has an undefeated record and knockout power. However, nothing I’ve seen from him suggests he’s the man to beat Jones. I expect the champion to dictate the fight from the first bell and take it wherever he wants to. Most likely Jones will take home a decision win. However, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get the finish late on. (Prediction: Jon Jones)

Timmy Moran:

Dominick Reyes carries the dangerous confidence of an undefeated fighter going into his title bout with Jon Jones. Despite his winning streak, powerful left hand, and athleticism, it’ll be tough to top Jones while he remains active and in his prime. Expect Jones to utilize his length and distance control and force Reyes into traps. Reyes’ inexperience and eagerness will work against him as Jones stops him prior to championship rounds. (Prediction: Jon Jones)

UFC Raleigh will go down tonight (Sat. January 25, 2020) from the PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina. In the main event of the night, heavyweights Curtis Blaydes and Junior dos Santos will go head-to-head.

It’s a great matchup that could have big implications on the heavyweight title picture moving forward. We here at LowKickMMA have compiled our UFC Raleigh staff predictions for the Blaydes vs. Santos main event. Check them out below.

UFC Raleigh Staff Predictions

Jon Fuentes:

Curtis Blaydes is a phenomenal grappler who will likely get this fight to the ground early, and keep it there. However, he has the power in his hands to finish the fight with some nasty ground-and-pound, against a former heavyweight champion whose time seems to have passed at this point in his career. Of course, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see “Cigano” pull off the upset knockout victory, but I got Blaydes dominating this fight. (Prediction: Curtis Blaydes)

Abhinav Kini:

I think if this was a three-rounder, Blaydes would have the edge. However, given it’s the main event, I feel like Junior dos Santos has a greater chance of potentially landing a fight-ending shot. I’m edging towards the former champion. (Prediction: Junior dos Santos)

Jordan Ellis

In this classic grappler against striker matchup, I expect the grappler to emerge victorious. Curtis Blaydes has to be on point to get it done though. Constant pressure, top-level wrestling, and avoiding a striking battle are his keys to victory. If he does these he’ll likely pick up a unanimous decision over the former heavyweight champion, who at this point appears way past his peak. Although, he is still capable of pulling something off in this one. (Prediction: Curtis Blaydes)

Timmy Moran:

Blaydes, the No. 3, and Dos Santos, the No. 4 heavyweights in the world clash in order to move up the ladder toward a title shot. Despite having a strong wrestling background, 75% of Blaydes wins have come by way of KO/TKO. On the other hand, dos Santos just lost via TKO to Francis Ngannou in June of last year. Blaydes has the skill set and the momentum leading into this bout to overwhelm the former champ. (Prediction: Curtis Blaydes)

UFC 246 will go down tonight (Sat. January 18, 2020) from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Mixed martial arts (MMA) fans will witness the return of former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor, as he takes on longtime fan-favorite Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone.

It’s a massive bout to kick off the new decade, especially since it features the UFC’s biggest star of all time. We here at LowKickMMA have compiled our UFC 246 staff predictions for the McGregor vs. Diaz main event. Check them out below.

UFC 246 Staff Predictions

Jon Fuentes:

I think people are a bit premature in giving McGregor the overall striking advantage. While McGregor may be the best boxer in this fight, Cerrone is a very high-level kickboxer who has some of the most dynamic kicks in the game. One shot to the body or head from Cerrone’s shin and that’s a wrap.

Not to mention Cerrone likely has the edge if the fight goes to the ground in terms of wrestling and jiu-jitsu. Cerrone may be a slow starter, but I have a feeling he’s going to truly show up the best version of himself tonight. I got Cerrone stopping McGregor in the mid-to-late rounds. (Prediction: Donald Cerrone)

Abhinav Kini:

It seems like many are expecting a slightly even striking contest. I don’t. Conor McGregor’s striking will be too much for Donald Cerrone and I’m forecasting an early first-round knockout similar to the Justin Gaethje result. The likely reluctance of “Cowboy” to use his wrestling will only make it more likely. (Prediction: Conor McGregor)

Jordan Ellis

Conor McGregor, despite being somewhat rusty, should have too much for Donald Cerrone. The American is on a two-fight skid and is known as a notoriously slow starter. In contrast, the Irishman is the fastest starter in the game, and this will be the difference. McGregor round one KO/TKO. (Prediction: Conor McGregor)

Ian Shutts

Conor McGregor is a notoriously fast starter, while “Cowboy” tends to be a bit of a slow starter. Not to mention Cerrone has difficulty with left-hand fighters, and McGregor has one of the most deadly left hands in the game. I got McGregor taking this one with a second-round TKO. (Prediction: Conor McGregor)

Timmy Moran:

Expect the longer and bigger Cerrone to temporarily weather the storm in round one against McGregor. However, the lethal left hand of McGregor will have landed enough to keep the contest from going into championship rounds. I got McGregor by TKO in the second round. (Prediction: Conor McGregor)
