Tyson Pedro scored a statement win in his comeback against Harry Hunsucker at UFC 278.

Going into the bout off an incredible knockout win over Isaac Villanueva, Pedro was looking to extend his winning run with a victory over Hunsucker, who was working to get back to winning ways after dropping two in a row. They clashed on the main card of UFC 278: Usman vs. Edwards 2 at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Pedro started things off composed and looked for that big shot. Hunsucker put in a good showing but was unable to cause any real damage to the Australian. A stinging jab from Pedro rocked Hunsucker before Pedro capitalized with a huge body kick to crumple Hunsucker in his comeback.

Pedro defeated Hunsucker by TKO in Round 1 (1:05).

Nate Landwehr snapped rising prospect David Onama’s two-fight win streak at UFC on ESPN 41.

Going into the bout as one of the hottest stocks in the promotion, Onama was looking to extend his winning run with a victory over Landwehr, who was even with two wins and two losses in his last four outings. They clashed at the co-main event of UFC Fight Night: Vera vs. Cruz at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.

Onama started off strong with relentless pressure. His striking abilities were on full display as he knocked down Landwehr with a crushing right hand in the first round. Landwehr rallied back in the second to land some big shots of his own. Onama appeared to have slowed down due to fatigue in round two and Landwehr took full advantage of that. Landwehr had a really close submission but Onama managed to slip away. After two thrilling rounds, both men gave their all inside the octagon in the final round.

Landwehr defeated Onama after going the distance by majority decision.

Tyson Nam snapped rising prospect Ode Osbourne’s two-fight win streak at UFC on ESPN 41.

Going into the bout as one of the hottest stocks in the promotion, Osbourne was looking to extend his winning run with a victory over Nam, who was coming off a loss to Matt Schnell. They clashed on the prelims of UFC Fight Night: Vera vs. Cruz at Pechanga Arena in San Diego, California.

Osbourne appeared confident from the start as he put on a flashy performance using his wide range of striking options. Nam stayed composed and analyzed his opponent’s movement. After Osbourne threw a flying knee, Nam gave back an ominous smile as an indicator of what was to come. Osbourne threw another flying knee and Name sent him crashing back down to the ground with a vicious right hook.

Nam defeated Osbourne in Round One (2:59) by KO.

Jamahal Hill persevered through a tough test to secure finish against Thiago Santos at UFC Vegas 59.

Going into the bout after a loss to Magomed Ankalaev, Santos was looking to reverse his fortunes against the Dana White Contender Series standout Hill at tonight’s UFC Vegas 59: Santos vs. Hill at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Hill opened up with a wide stance, leaving room for Santos to connect with a few low kicks to his front leg. Both fighters were cautious at the start and respectful of the power their opponent possessed. Hill walked Santos down for most of the opening round before being forced to grapple with Santos. Real fireworks started in the last minute of round one.

Both men got into a brawl halfway past the second round as they got into more close-range striking exchanges. The third round saw Santos record a new personal best for takedowns landed.

Hill and Santos got into a brawl in round four, with good shots being landed by both men. Hill clipped Santos with a flurry of punches. He continued with the ground and pound as Santos lay on his back. The referee stopped a call to this fight after Santos wasn’t able to respond back.

Jamahal Hill won the fight by TKO (R4, 2:31).

Mohammed Usman scored a brutal knockout against Zac Pauga at UFC Vegas 59.

Going into the bout after a submission loss, Mohammed Usman was looking to make a successful debut under the banner in the grand finale of The Ultimate Fighter at tonight’s UFC Vegas 59: Santos vs. Hill at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Pauga used his agility to his advantage against the relatively slower Usman, who struggled to counter his speed and footwork. Usman stayed patient in his quest for that one shot. His coach assured him that he would find that power strike after the first round. Usman found the knockout he was looking for in under a minute of the second round.

Usman won The Ultimate Fighter by knockout in round two.

Julianna Pena’s second outing with Amanda Nunes resulted in a historic win for “The Lioness” at UFC 277.

Pena went into the bout as the UFC women’s bantamweight champion after having just dethroned Nunes in a major upset at UFC 269 in Dec. 2021. Nunes returned for an immediate rematch in an attempt to regain her status as the double champ at UFC 277 on July 30 at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Nunes got things off to a fiery start and clipped Pena on more than one occasion in the opening round. She put on a masterful showcase of her striking abilities to rack up three knockdowns in the second round and continued her dominance further. Pena had Nunes deep in an armor attempt in the fourth but the former champion survived.

Nunes won the fight after going the distance by unanimous decision.
