The UFC Vegas 27 weigh-ins are in the books, with only two slight changes to the event.

The UFC returns to the Apex in Las Vegas for this weekend’s event, which will air on ESPN and stream on ESPN+. The main event and co-main event are now official, with former bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt (12-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC), Rob Font (18-4 MMA, 8-3 UFC), former women’s strawweight champ Carla Esparza (17-6 MMA, 8-4 UFC), and Yan Xiaonan (13-1 MMA, 6-0 UFC) all making weight without issue.

Ironically, the lone weight miss came from Juancamilo Ronderos (4-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC). Ronderos steps in on less than one day’s notice to replace Raulian Paiva, who was pulled from the card for weight management issues. His opponent David Dvorak (19-3 MMA, 2-0 UFC) will receive twenty percent of Ronderos purse for the miss. Still, the flyweight fight will go on as scheduled.

Another card change was reported, as the bantamweight bout between Stephanie Egger and Sarah Alpar has been canceled due to Covid 19 protocols.

IT’S TIME! The UFC 262 main event is finally upon us. Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler are about to throw down for the vacant lightweight title. Who’ll win? Let’s find out.

Round 1: Charles Oliveira lands a big leg kick that drops Michael Chandler early. The former Bellator champion pops back up and is getting after it. Chandler cracks Oliveira who immediately shoots in. Chandler tries to lock up the guillotine choke, it looks deep but the BJJ specialist survives and ends up on top. Oliveira is on his back and has the body triangle locked up. Three minutes left on the clock this is a terrible spot for Chandler. Amazingly, Chandler explodes out and back to his feet! He’s standing over his opponent, picking his shots. Oliveira pops back to his feet. Chandler cracks him! Oliveira is covering up and is forced to take a knee. Chandler continues to drop s bombs from the guard but Oliveira appears to have survived that flurry. A brief lull in this all-action first round. Chandler lands a nasty elbow before passing into side control. Oliveira recovers guard and appears to be hanging on for the end of the first round. The first frame ends with Chandler standing over a bloodied Oliveira.

Round 2: Oliveira comes out and catches Chandler early. The former Bellator champion is hurt and trying to get out of range. Oliveira continues to land big shots and ultimately drops his man. The Brazilian swarms on the floor and knocks Chandler out cold.

In the UFC 262 co-main event, Tony Ferguson looks to end his losing streak against Beneil Dariush.

Round 1: Tony Ferguson charges forward early and eats a shot from Beniel Dariush. Dariush is going after him early here. He’s throwing big shots upstairs and also landing heavy leg kicks. Dariush shoots and scores with the takedown. Ferguson is working from the bottom, he appears to be setting up a triangle choke. ‘El Cucuy’ is using the position to hammer home ground strikes from the bottom. Ferguson recovers guard but is eating lots of strikes from Dariush right now. Ferguson tries to reverse off the fence, he almost pulls it off before Dariush secures the position once again. Ferguson tries to sneak of the backdoor but Dariush again does a great job to maintain position. The rounds ends in something of a stalemate on the mat.

Round 2: Dariush shoots early and gets the fight to the floor once again. Ferguson accepts the position and tries to sink in a D’arce choke. The former interim champion is holding onto the neck but it doesn’t seem to be on. Dariush eventually pops out of the submission attempt and begins dropping bombs from the guard. Dariush moves into half-guard. Ferguson pops back to his feet but is quickly dragged back down. Ferguson reverses the position it but Dariush sits back for a heel hook. It looks super tight. Ferguson is wincing in pain but refuses to tap. ‘El Cucuy’ kicks his way out of the submission attempt but he’s still on the bottom being dominated by Dariush who ends round two on top.

Round 3: Ferguson looks wobbly on his feet at the start of round three. Dariush is mixing up his strikes and takedown offense. He picks up Ferguson and slams him to the mat. ‘El Cucuy’ is walking up the wall but seems stuck on bottom. Dariush seems content to maintain this spot, he’s not trying to advance or really throw any strikes but he’s got side control right now. Ferguson again tries to wall walk but it’s just not working. ‘El Cucuy’ is trying to secure a choke from the bottom but Dariush pops out. Ferguson tries to get out the back but Dariush follows him and maintains his position. Dariush is dropping punches from the guard now. He rides out the fight on top and will get the biggest win of his fight career.

Round 1: Schnell is the one advancing forward as he takes control of the center of the Octagon. He partially lands a body kick. Schnell lands a leg kick but not a lot of action overall a minute into the fight. Both fighters start to exchange momentarily a few times but neither one is really getting started. Bontorin cracks Schnell with a combo. Bontorin hurts Schnell with a low calf kick. Schnell pulls back and cracks Bontorin with a left hook. Bontorin lands a big leg kick. Bontorin misses a huge overhand. Schnell ends the round with a body kick.

Round 2: Schnell is having early success in the second round but Bontorin returns with a counter. Bontorin starts to connect more with leg kicks. Schnell attempts a combination and lands with a final left. Like the first, not a lot of action for the most part. Both fighters open up in the pocket a lot more just over half the round in. Schnell connects with a body kick but Bontorin lands a big left. Schnell fires with a switch kick to the body. Bontorin tags Schnell with a left and goes for a flurry but the latter quickly gets to his senses. The Houston crowd starts to boo as the round ends.

Round 3: Bontorin lands a strong leg kick. More urgency from Schnell but he’s struggling to land. Bontorin responds with another strong leg kick. Schnell starts to connect more but Bontorin remains unfazed. Bontorin hurts Schnell who is shelling up against the cage. Bontorin gets him down soon after. Schnell has Bontorin in his guard and lands strikes but receives a big right from Bontorin. Schnell’s mouthguard fell out before he was taken down and he starts to receive big strikes to the head. Schnell scrambles but can’t get Bontorin off him. The round ends with Bontorin on top.

Official result: Rogerio Bontorin defeats Matt Schnell via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28).

Round 1: A lot of striking early on. Araujo is catching Chookagian with a number of rights. Chookagian is eating them and still very much in this. She threatens with a combo that finishes with a head kick but Araujo dodges it. Both fighters continue to strike but Chookagian is the one with more volume. Araujo level changes and goes for a takedown. Chookagian defends it but is up against the fence. Chookagian lands some knees in defense but Araujo lands some of her own. However, she isn’t able to separate as the round ends. That last sequence may have just edged it for Araujo.

Round 2: Some jabbing from both fighters early on. Araujo gets dropped by a front kick to the body from Chookagian. Chookagian advances but continues her regular pace soon after. Chookagian continues to throw strikes with a front kick followed by a straight right. Araujo is having trouble landing. However, she catches a body kick from Chookagian and manages to take her down. Araujo is on top and looks to have gripped Chookagian with a mounted choke. Araujo transitions to full mount. Chookagian escapes and the fight returns to the feet. Araujo looks to be gassed as Chookagian is picking her apart. The round comes to an end. Chookagian looks to have tapped as per the UFC commentators during the mounted choke. However, on inspection, it appears otherwise.

Round 3: It’s more of the same as far as striking on the feet is concerned. Both fighters are throwing volume but Chookagian is throwing slightly more. However, both fighters aren’t connecting as much. Araujo has considerably slowed down since getting Chookagian to the ground. Chookagian continues to pop Araujo with a left jab. She partially lands a head kick. Araujo’s right eye is starting to swell. Araujo goes for a takedown but Chookagian defends and lands a knee in response. Chookagian connects with a leg kick. Araujo is much more stationery now. Chookagian, meanwhile, has increased the pace further. However, Araujo connects with a right hand. Both of them swing to end the fight.

Official result: Katlyn Chookagian defeats Viviane Araujo via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27).

Round 1: Burgos starts off with a jab before Barboza lands a couple of huge leg kicks. Barboza cracks Burgos with a right before connecting with another leg kick. Burgos smiles it off but he appears to be in some pain. Barboza continues to land leg kicks. Burgos starts to pressure Barboza with jabs as Barboza is throwing less now. Burgos is having more success with his jab. Barboza partially lands a spinning back kick. Burgos takes Barboza’s back but Barboza escapes and they return to striking. Burgos also connects with some body shots. Burgos connects with a left hook during a close exchange but Barboza responds with a leg kick. Barboza’s eye is clearly starting to wear damage. Burgos blocks a spinning wheel kick but gets stinged with a right hand. Barboza is countering and hurting Burgos with punches. He now lands a number of leg kicks but Burgos continues to march forward with pressure. Burgos lands a left hand and kicks to the body to end the round.

Round 2: Both fighters continue to exchange. Barboza connects with another leg kick before following it up with a spinning back kick to the body. Burgos lands a body shot. Burgos is also having success with front kicks to the body. Barboza connects with a right but Burgos continues to show a monstrous chin. Burgos connects with another left hook to the body. Burgos starts to gain some momentum before Barboza fires back with a spinning back kick to the body. Burgos starts to land leg kicks now. Barboza attempts a flying knee but Burgos seems to have partially blocked it and continues to put the pressure. This is a much better round from Burgos. Barboza misses a spinning wheel kick. Burgos lands another leg kick to end the round. Barboza’s foot is bleeding badly.

Round 3: Both fighters exchange leg kicks early on. Burgos fakes and connects with a right. Barboza lands a leg kick. Barboza slips and lands a right hand. A delayed reaction sees Burgos collapse and get knocked out!

Official result: Edson Barboza defeats Shane Burgos via TKO (R3, 1:16).
