Despite a solid showing, promotional debutante, Ramiz Brahimaj dropped a defeat in his UFC bow, after suffering a brutal ear injury in the final round of his preliminary pairing with Max ‘Pain’ Griffin.

The Fortis MMA mainstay had his promotional career disrupted after the discovery of a tumor within his eye, detailed some decent striking early on in the opening round, before suffering a couple of accidental groin kicks from Griffin.

Brahimaj seen a scheduled tie with Miguel Baeza scrapped amid the diagnosing of his tumor, which was subsequently successfully removed, was also forced from a UFC Vegas event in June against Takashi Sato, after a member of his corner had returned a positive test result for COVID-19.

Midway through the third and final frame, Brahimaj who had his back to the Octagon fence was clipped with a short right elbow from Griffin, almost completely detaching the former’s left ear from his head, with Brahimaj clearly attempting to hold his ear in place. In a timely call, referee, Mark Smith separated the two immediately, calling a halt to the action.

LowKick MMA will be bringing you UFC Vegas 13: Santos vs. Teixeira Results throughout the night (Sat. 7th. November 2020) from the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada.

One-time UFC light heavyweight title challengers, Thiago ‘Marreta’ Santos, and Glover Teixeira headline tonight’s event in ‘Sin City’ – hoping to stamp their respective tickets as the next contender to Jan Blachowicz’s 205-pound throne, albeit after the rise of middleweight champion, Israel ‘The Last Stylebender’ Adesanya.

Returning to action from a slew of major leg and knee injuries suffered in his tight five-round affair with two-time champion, Jon ‘Bones’ Jones back in July of last year at UFC 239, 36-year-old bruiser, Santos dropped his first defeat at 205-pounds in his razor-thin decision loss to Jones.

Making a timely rise to title challenger status, the American Top Team trainee had blasted through Eryk Anders, Jimi Manuwa, and scored a knockout victory over current best, the aforenoted, Blachowicz at UFC Fight Night Prague back in February of last year.

41-year-old Minas Gerais favourite, Teixeira would not only book his place in a second light heavyweight title fight under the promotion’s banner with a win over Santos, but would also secure his eye-catching fifth straight win. The poised boxer and grappler completely descimated common-opponent, Anthony Smith in the main event of UFC Fight Night Jacksonville in May, adding to a winning run which includes prior victories over Nikita Krylov, Ion Cutelaba, an Karl Roberson.

In the night’s co-main event, veteran former UFC heavyweight kingpin, Andrei ‘The Pitbull’ Arlovski returns for the second time this year, as he welcomes Canadian division prospect, Tanner ‘The Bulldozer’ Boser.

Sharing the above mentioned Jacksonville card with Teixeira, Arlovski returned to winning ways with a unanimous decision win over Philippe Lins.

Hoping to score his third consecutive win, Boser rebounded from a unanimous decision loss to fellow prospect, Ciryl Gane, with a pair of knockout victories of his own both common-opposition, Lins and Raphael Pessoa, in June and July this year, respectively.

Perennial UFC featherweight contender, Jeremy ‘Lil’ Heathen’ Stephens has been forced to withdraw from his UFC Vegas 13 pairing with division upstart, Arnold ‘Almighty’ Allen on November 7 – citing an injury, according to a report from MMA Junkie’s, Nolan King

Stephens, who was previously linked with an eye-catching featherweight pairing with fellow former lightweight, Edson Barboza for a UFC Fight Island event this month, declined the offer, on that occasion citing a need for more time to prepare for the cut to 145-pounds following his tipping of the scales before his UFC 249 knockout loss to Calvin Kattar

Stephens was subsequently replaced by Sodiq Yussuf, who was himself replaced by Makwan Amirkhani after he was forced to withdraw due to passport issues – with Barboza ultimately sealing his first victory since his drop to featherweight in a unanimous decision win.

It’s currently unknown if the promotion will attempt to find a short-notice replacement for Ipswich native, Allen who most recently featured at UFC Fight Night Raleigh in late January – taking home a unanimous decision win over Nik Lentz to score his seventh-successive Octagon success.

34-year-old Des Moines, Iowa native Stephens is a thirteen-year, whopping thirty-four fight Octagon veteran. A renowned knockout artist, the Alliance MMA mainstay has managed to score an incredible nineteen knockout wins from twenty-eight overall.

With a 28-18 professional record, Stephens has secured notable wins over Josh Emmett, Doo Ho Choi, former Strikeforce lightweight best, Gilbert Melendez, former bantamweight champion, Renan Barao, The Ultimate Fighter 14 finalist, Dennis Bermudez, and a memorable 2008 knockout over former lightweight titleholder, Rafael dos Anjos.

For Allen, the 26-year-old currently sits at #9 in the promotion’s 145-pound ranks, with an unbeaten 7-0 record under the UFC’s banner. Taking wins against the above mentioned, Lentz and common-opposition, Melendez – Allen has also scored impressive victories over Mads Burnell, and the previously noted, Amirkhani.

UFC Vegas 13 takes place on November 7 from the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada – with a high-stakes potential light heavyweight title eliminator between one-time title challengers, Thiago ‘Marreta’ Santos and Glover Teixeira expected to take place at the third time of asking.
