The UFC Vegas 6 medical suspensions are in. The event took place on Aug. 8. UFC Vegas 6 was held inside the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the main event, heavyweights Derrick Lewis and Aleksei Oleinik collide. Lewis scored the second-round finish. Oleinik has been medically suspended until Sept. 23 with no contact […]
Aleksei Oleinik is keeping his head held high. Oleinik suffered a second-round TKO defeat at the hands of Derrick Lewis in the UFC Vegas 6 headliner this past weekend. It put an end to a two-fight winning streak for the heavyweight veteran, but he is only looking forward as he hopes to bounce back from […]
It put an end to a two-fight winning streak for the heavyweight veteran, but he is only looking forward as he hopes to bounce back from this latest setback.
“There are always 2 ways: forward and back,” Oleinik wrote on Instagram. “I choose the first one.”
Somewhat strangely, Oleinik also put the location of his Instagram post as “Hell.”
However, the Russian is no stranger to bouncing back from knockout defeats. His most recent two-fight winning run with victories over Maurice Greene and Fabricio Werdum notably came after back-to-back knockout losses to Alistair Overeem and Walt Harris last year.
If anyone can do it — especially at the age of 43 — it’s Oleinik.
What do you make of Oleinik’s post-fight statement? And who should he face next?

Marvin Vettori wants Chris Weidman next. Weidman snapped a two-fight losing streak and returned to the win column following a hard-fought unanimous decision victory over Omari Akhmedov in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 6 last night. The former middleweight champion declared soon after that he was back and ready to take on the top […]
The former middleweight champion declared soon after that he was back and ready to take on the top fighters in the 185-pound division.
Some observers, however, believe Weidman should continue to face the lower-ranked fighters and further build his confidence up — especially as he had a poor second round where he clearly gassed out against Akhmedov.
“Weidman looked horrible tonight. He’s a former champion let me whip his boring ass next. Guarantee you he will hide like all the other guys. Me against @chrisweidman needs to happen.
“I swear I’ll have weidman begging me for air by the 2nd. Let’s book this!”
Vettori is on a three-fight winning streak after victories over Cezar Ferreira, Andrew Sanchez and Karl Roberson.
With Weidman highly likely to be ranked in the middleweight top 15, it would certainly be a fight that makes sense for the Italian.
The only question is if Weidman would be reciprocative.
What do you think of a potential Weidman vs. Vettori fight?
It appears the next big matchup in the heavyweight division is set between Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis. It appears the next big matchup in the heavyweight division is set between Curtis Blaydes and Derrick Lewis.
Lewis made it three wins in a row following his second-round TKO win over Aleksei Oleinik in the UFC Vegas 6 headliner last month. After the fight, Blaydes “called dibs” on facing Lewis next.
And when asked about the prospect of facing Blaydes, Lewis had this to say.
“All he’s going to do is try to grab me and hold me and try to win a decision,” Lewis said at the post-fight press conference. “He’s not going to try to finish me. I’m going to take Curtis Blaydes down and finish him.”
The criticism of Blaydes comes from his wrestling-heavy style where it can sometimes lead to a drab fight. That was certainly the case when the American outpointed Alexander Volkov back in June with UFC president Dana White leading the criticism.
One thing is for sure — a fight with Lewis will guarantee entertainment with the winner likely being next in line to get a title shot. After Francis Ngannou, at least.
Derrick Lewis delivered once again in his post-fight interview. Derrick Lewis delivered once again in his post-fight interview.
“The Black Beast” also made history in the progress as he became the UFC heavyweight with the most knockouts with 11.
And when told of his accomplishment during the post-fight interview, Lewis was seemingly not paying attention as he hilariously revealed to someone off-camera that he needed to go to the bathroom.
Of course, Lewis is no stranger to hilarious post-fight interviews.
The most infamous one was at UFC 229 where he claimed his balls were hot which, along with his come-from-behind knockout win over Alexander Volkov, saw him become an overnight sensation.
He also made a reference to needing to use the bathroom following his win over Travis Browne back in 2017.
It’s certainly easy to see why Lewis has a big fanbase.
What did you make of Lewis’ interview and his win tonight?
