UFC heavyweight fan favorite Derrick Lewis will no longer be making the walk inside Rogers Place later today.

Lewis has been in Edmonton, Canada this week preparing for his latest opportunity to extend his lead on the promotion’s knockout throne. That was set to come on the main card of Saturday’s UFC Fight Night, which will be headlined by former two-time flyweight champion Brandon Moreno and his showdown with Amir Albazi.

There didn’t appear to be any hitches on Friday morning, with “The Black Beast” successfully hitting the scale and making weight. But alarm bells rang when he didn’t show at the ceremonial weigh-ins.

While an update at the time noted that Lewis’ fight with Jhonata Diniz remained on, it was subsequently confirmed to have been scrapped owing to a non-weight cutting medical issue on the side of the former title challenger.

Lewis was hoping to make it back-to-back wins in 2024 following a five-round setback opposite Jailton Almeida in November 2023. He most recently got the better of Rodrigo Nascimento in the UFC Fight Night St. Louis main event this past May.

Diniz, meanwhile, planned to make the most of his career’s biggest opportunity to date. The undefeated Brazilian has knocked out Austen Lane and outpointed Karl Williams since earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series in September 2023.

With their fight off today’s lineup, home favorite Jasmine Jasudavicius has had her clash with Ariane da Silva (née Lipski) bumped up to the main card.

Belal Out, Alexandre Pantoja In? Flyweight Champ Seeks Main Event Spot at UFC 310 “I’m going to put on a very good show.”

Alexandre Pantoja UFC 310

The UFC flyweight king Alexandre Pantoja has expressed his thoughts on the recent news that Belal Muhammad has been removed from the UFC 310 card due to injury. He is booked in a flyweight title match against Japan’s Kai Asakura, originally booked as the co-main, but the Brazilian champion is campaigning for the main event in Las Vegas on December 7.

Alexandre Pantoja at UFC 310

Brazil’s Alexandre Pantoja has produced some of the most exciting matchups in the UFC with wins against fighters such as Brandon Royval, Steve Erceg, and Brandon Moreno, among others. He is set to face the RIZIN world champion Kai Asakura at UFC 310. Japan’s Asakura is recognized for punching power and boxing.

Belal Muhammad was booked to face the unbeaten Shavkat Rakhmonov in a welterweight title match but was forced to withdraw due to injury. UFC 310 is reportedly without a main event. Some have speculated that an interim welterweight title match will be booked or the light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira will face a last-minute opponent. But, Alexandre Pantoja is asking, why not him?

In an interview with Mike Heck, the Brazilian champion Alexandre Pantoja explained:

“I heard about Belal [being] hurt like two days ago in my gym before and I said, ‘It’s right?,’” But it’s just talk, the guys just talking about it and then [earlier] I just seen the video [with him] in hospital with his feet. That’s a real, real problem on there, and this happens [at] a lot in the MMA gyms, some infections [on] the floor, they go to the gym. … I just [have] one main event in my life — in my last fight in Brazil, in Rio de Janeiro, and I know there’s some difference [fighting in that spot].

Alexandre Pantoja

Alexandre Pantoja continued:

“You need to do more stuff to sell your pay-per-view, sell your fight, and let’s go. It’s a good time to learn about that. I think what everybody knows about is how I’m fighting, and after, I took a little break — maybe people don’t realize that, but I took a little break. My last fight was in May and now I fight in December, and this break is very good for me, for my family, you know.”

“And now I feel super fresh for that fight because I had a good time, my family had a good time and now we’re in camp again. And we can see the difference in the house because my family breathes my fights. After all, this happened for so many years. I know, 100 percent, I’m going to put on a very good show. I don’t like to say I’m going to finish that guy, I do my job, but, 100 percent, I’m in the best shape of my life.”

On facing the RIZIN world champion Kai Asakura, he added

“That’s what everybody wants to see: The best [in the] UFC versus another promotion, another champion for all the world, and I have the opportunity. I’m very happy with the opponent for me, and more because I have [fought in main] events and Asakura [is] very popular in Japan, and I know [that] the Japanese buy a lot of pay-per-views too. That’s very good.”

Jon Jones Chuck Liddell Rampage Jackson

The UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones was proudly showing off his weight training on Instagram when former champion Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson mocked him stating that he’s seen MMA icon Chuck Liddell lift heavier.

Rampage Jackso Mocks Jon Jones

Bones‘ Jon Jones is an all-time great in MMA with his legendary run in the light heavyweight division. Since becoming champion in 2011, Jones has defeated notable fighters such as Rashad Evans, Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua, Daniel Cormier, Vitor Belfort, Lyoto Machida, and Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson, among many others. Eventually, he vacated his light heavyweight throne, and ‘Bones’ moved up to heavyweight where he earned UFC gold.

Now on social media, Jon Jones often shows off his new heavyweight physique. He said:

“240 pounds, fast and strong. I used to walk around at 235lbs as a light heavyweight. This almost feels like a light heavyweight fight without the weight cut.”

Former UFC champion Quinton ‘Rampage‘ Jackson remarked:

“I’ve seen Chuck lift more”

Rampage Jackson Jon Jones

Chuck Liddell recently said, in an interview with Jackson, that in his prime he would have been able to defeat the all-time great Jon Jones. ‘The Iceman’ was a key figure in helping transition the sport from underground to mainstream. The knockout striker was celebrated for his notable wins over Randy Couture and Tito Ortiz. On facing Jon Jones, Liddell said:

“That’s why I always said I would’ve been a bad matchup for [Jones] cause I’m probably one of the few guys where he would have a hard time dictating where I fought him. You know, I would’ve fought him. He would’ve had to fight me standing up, he couldn’t outwrestle me. He couldn’t take me down…He wouldn’t have been able to take me down. He would’ve had to strike with me.”

Sean Strickland lands knockout win over Abusupiyan Magomedov UFC Vegas 76 Highlights

UFC athlete Sean Strickland is well known for being scared of LGBTQ+ people and women. He often has outlandish rants about females, stating that they should stay in the kitchen and not be allowed to vote. Now, Sean Strickland has found an issue with female race car drivers.

Sean Strickland Talks Women

Sean Strickland has a long history of putting women down. He claimed that no one would watch women’s MMA if it wasn’t coupled with men’s MMA, saying “If the female MMA was to separate from the male MMA no one’s going to watch that s***.” Strickland suggested that even a “weak” male journalist could probably beat up Raquel Pennington, a female UFC fighter.

The UFC athlete Strickland made comments suggesting that women shouldn’t work, saying “Women don’t need to work, they need to stay home and raise a family.” He suggested that society needs to “put women back in the kitchen” and return to a time when only one man in a household needed to work. Strickland stated that women’s right to vote was an “error” and suggested women should be “put back in the kitchen.” Strickland criticized the idea of women entering the workforce, claiming it has led to lower wages for men.

The UFC athlete Strickland has now found a new target for him to rant over, female racecar drivers. On X, he Tweeted:

“You know what the craziest f*cking thing to me is? Female race car drivers. Vote, fight, run whatever man it’s a new world of equality but like how the f*ck did someone think it was a good idea to let you all drive fast?!”

Then responded to an image that outed Asian female drivers specifically, and he agreed.

As for female racecar drivers in NASCAR, Danica Patrick is perhaps the most well-known female NASCAR driver, Patrick competed full-time in the Cup Series from 2013-2017. Also, Hailie Deegan is currently competing full-time in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, 22-year-old Deegan is one of the most prominent female drivers in NASCAR today. Additionally, Toni Breidinger holds the record for most wins (19) by a female driver in the United States Auto Club (USAC) history.
