It’s recently been rumored that mixed martial arts legends Quinton ‘Rampage’ Jackson and Wanderlei Silva would be meeting for a fourth time at a Bellator event on Sept. 29 in San Jose, California.

And today  (June 25, 2018), Jackson confirmed on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show that he has indeed signed on the dotted line to run things back with his old rival.

The two first met at Pride Final Conflict in 2003 in Tokyo, Japan where Silva stopped ‘Rampage’ and scored a TKO victory. They then met again at Pride 28 in 2004 in Saitama, Japan where Silva once again scored a stoppage victory. Then, ‘Rampage’ finally exacted revenge when the two met for a third time at UFC 92 in 2008, as he knocked out Silva in the first round.

More recently, ‘Rampage’ has dropped back-to-back defeats, suffering a decision loss to Muhammaed Lawal in March 2017 at Bellator 175 and then suffering a decision defeat to Chael Sonnen in the first round of the heavyweight Grand Prix tournament this past January at Bellator 192.

Silva, meanwhile, is also coming off of a decision defeat to Sonnen at Bellator 180 last June in New York City.

This upcoming event will be headlined by a super fight between middleweight champion Gegard Mousasi and welterweight titleholder Rory MacDonald.

Wanderlei Silva Claims He’s Fighting Rampage In Bellator This Year

Wanderlei Silva and Rampage Jackson will supposedly be meeting inside the cage for the fourth time.

Silva posted a video on his official Facebook page today (Wed. June 20, 2018) and claimed he has been offered a main event clash against Jackson for Bellator MMA in California on a September 29th card that has yet to be announced:

”Like people say, it’s very hard for a good professional to retire,” Silva said. “I just got a call from Bellator inviting to be part of the Sept. 29 (card) against Quinton Jackson in the main event in California. It’s our fourth bout, I won two of the first three, so it’s 2-1 for me.”

This very well could be the main event for the California card, as Bellator and Viacom are set to hold a press conference in New York on June 26 to announce “a new landmark distribution deal.” They are also teasing “a monumental ‘can’t-miss’ event.”

Bellator MMA President Scott Coker, Jackson, and Silva are set to attend the presser.

Silva won the first two meetings with Jackson under the PRIDE banner, both via knockout in 2003 and 2004. They squared off for a third time in 2008 in the UFC, and Jackson won that fight via first-round knockout.
