Jon Jones, Daniel Cormier, and the rest of the fighters competing on tomorrow’s UFC 182: Jones vs. Cormier card are set to hit the scales in just a few minutes from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. With any luck, a fight will break out that we’ll all totally love but act like we’re ashamed about later. Not that any incident that may or may not occur between Jones and Cormier tonight will top Mirko Cro Cop’s fracas with Kazuyuki Fujita at Inoki Bom. That shove was straight vicious, son. Like, whatever lies between “hospital” and “cemetery” on the Cro Cop scale of vicious. Mortuary vicious.

UFC on FOX 13 Weigh-In Results, or, The End of the ‘Nate Diaz: Crazy or Cunning?’ Debate

Earlier today, CagePotato contributor Trent Reinsmith asked us to consider whether perennial lightweight contender Nate Diaz might secretly be a hell of a lot more cunning than we give him credit for. The main takeaway from you readers seemed to be that the article was “retarded”, “fake”, and also “gay.” Quite the cunning linguists, you guys are. #wordplay #layers

While initially skeptical myself, I was at least willing to hear Trent out, as my own recent revelation about Tito Ortiz has forced me to reconsider that any and every MMA fighter might be some kind of evil genius beneath all the punch drunk slurs and mispronounced maxims.

Until about an hour ago, that was, at the UFC on FOX 13 weigh-ins. Scheduled to face Rafael Dos Anjos in a pivotal lightweight matchup, Diaz showed up a whopping 5.6 pounds overweight and, in a shocking twist, appeared to give less than zero fucks about it. I’m just saying, if I spent a year-long hiatus from my job complaining about not getting paid enough, I sure as hell wouldn’t force the athletic commission to deduct 20% of my paycheck upon my return. So let’s all just go ahead and put that debate to bed.

All Fighters Make Weight at ‘UFC Fight Night 35: Rockhold vs. Philippou’ Weigh-Ins

All 24 fighters competing on tomorrow’s Fight Night: Rockhold vs. Philippou card made weight at today’s weigh-ins, which went down at the Arena at Gwinnett Center in Duluth, Georgia at 4 p.m. EST.

Although the event got off to a smooth start, things took a turn for the worse during the main event staredown. For seemingly no reason, Philippou suddenly decided to blind Rockhold with a Three Stooges-style double eye poke (a signature move of his), causing the final Strikeforce middleweight champion to stumble off stage and knock himself unconscious. Stepping in to fight Philippou on extremely short notice will be Mayhem Miller, who promised to “Force-feed that Cypriot his own ass and then drag his assless corpse to the local cineplex” before launching into a series of robot and Batman sounds. Should be a hell of a fight.

Tomorrow night, the once great promotion known as Strikeforce will fade into obscurity, joining the ranks of such infinitely-inferior-yet-similarly-dissolved promotions as Affliction, EliteXC, and the oft forgotten Tank Abbott’s Backyard Brawlin’ Beergut Buddies.

So with their future careers on the line, make sure to swing by CagePotato at 5 p.m. EST to catch weigh-ins for all of the fighters participating at tomorrow’s Strikeforce: Pros vs. Joes event. Who knows? Maybe some of the randoms plucked from MMA obscurity will be too scared to show up, or piss themselves when they realize the huge mistake they’ve made. In either case, it should be fun.
