UFC 275 will see both the UFC Light Heavyweight and Women’s Flyweight Championships up for grabs.

The main event of UFC 275 features UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Glover Teixeira defending his title for the first time against Ji?í Procházka. The champion won the title by defeating Jan Blachowicz by submission at UFC 267 on Oct. 30, 2021.

At 42 years old, Teixeira hopes to prove he can still be the best in his division. However, he faces a dangerous challenger.

Procházka is coming into the fight on a 12-fight win streak, with 11 of his wins happening by knockout. His last win was against former title contender Dominick Reyes by knockout via a brutal spinning elbow at UFC Vegas 25 on May. 1, 2021.

Talia Santos will hope to stop the dominant reign of UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion Valentina Shevchenko in the co-main event. Although she is the underdog, Santos has only lost one fight in her career, which happened by split decision.

Her last win was against Joanne Wood by submission at UFC Vegas 43 on Nov. 20, 2021. But Santos will have her most significant challenge to date in fighting Shevchenko.

The champion is regarded as the best pound-for-pound women’s fighter in the UFC. She has successfully defended her title six times. Her last win was against Lauren Murphy by knockout at UFC 266 on Sep. 25, 2021. Shevchenko will attempt to continue her impressive title defense streak and could potentially move up to fight for the UFC Bantamweight Championship.

Check back at MMA News this weekend for our coverage of UFC 275.

Weili Zhang Confused by ‘Thug’ Rose’s Offer to Help Joanna Jedrzejczyk for UFC 275 Bout

Former UFC strawweight champion ‘Thug’ Rose Namajunas has offered to help train Joanna Jedrzejczyk for her UFC 275 bout with fellow former champion Weili Zhang.

27 months removed from their first bout, Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Weili Zhang will run back what many consider to be the greatest women’s fight in mixed martial arts history. At UFC 248, Jedrzejczyk and Zhang engaged in a 25-minute war that left Jedrzejczyk nearly unrecognizable. The two are expected to light the fireworks once again in Singapore, but before Jedrzejczyk steps back into the Octagon, she might get some help from a former foe.

‘Thug Rose” and her coach Pat Barry confirmed during an appearance on The MMA Hour that they were willing to help Jedrzejczyk prepare for her UFC return. The offer caught the attention of former champion Zhang who was nothing short of confused by Namajunas’ offer during an interview posted on the Chinese-native’s Instagram account.

“Well, if I’m Rose, I would not do something like this because Joanna has her own team. ATT is a very professional, elite team. They produced many champions,” Zhang said. “And you go interfere at this point that’s a little bit… I don’t know what she’s trying to do. Does she think Joanna’s team is not good enough or what? I don’t know. I definitely would not do that in her shoes.”

‘Thug’ Rose Is an Expert When It Comes to Fighting Weili Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejcyk

Fighters reaching out to help train others is certainly not unheard of and when it comes to bouts with Weili Zhang and Joanna Jedrzejczyk, you’d be hard-pressed to find someone more qualified than Namajunas.

Stepping into UFC 217, Namajunas was a sizeable underdog against then-champion Jedrzejczyk. It only took ‘Thug’ Rose three minutes to put away the reigning champion. While some fans suggested that her win was a ‘fluke’, Namajunas proved her worth by defeating Jedrzejczyk in a rematch at UFC 223.

History repeated itself when Namajunas stepped into the cage against champion Weili Zhang at UFC 261. Namajunas landed a massive head kick just over a minute into the contest to capture UFC gold for the second time. She followed up the performance with a split decision win over Zhang in their UFC 268 rematch.

Former UFC strawweight champion Jéssica Andrade has pinpointed who she would like to face next after a victorious return to the division at UFC Vegas 52.

Last night at UFC Vegas 52, Jéssica Andrade made history with the first standing arm-triangle submission victory in UFC history over Amanda Lemos. This was Andrade’s first fight back at strawweight since her UFC 251 split-decision loss to current champion Rose Namajunas.

Andrade then moved up to flyweight where she was able to go 2-1, with the lone defeat coming at the hands of one of the best pound-for-pound fighters on planet Earth, Valentina Shevchenko.

UFC 261: Valentina Shevchenko warns 'don't waste your time' after beat down of Jessica Andrade to retain flyweight title | South China Morning Post

Prior to temporarily exiting strawweight in 2020, Andrade had reached the pinnacle of the division when she defeated Namajunas for the title at UFC 237 in 2019. Now that she’s back in the strawweight win column for the first time since then, she is already setting her eyes on retrieving the championship belt.

In a perfect world according to Andrade, that would mean a crack at the winner of the upcoming fight between Rose Namajunas and Carla Esparza.

However, what’s more realistic and likely, according to the former champ, is that she would have to face the winner of the upcoming rematch between Zhang Weili and Joanna J?drzejczyk. Andrade knows what it’s like to be in the Octagon with both women, as they both hold a victory over Bate Estaca.

With the Weili/J?drzejczyk rematch being confirmed during the UFC Vegas 52 broadcast, what better time is there to lend an official prediction from a mutual opponent?

“Looking back on the past two years, I think that Weili probably has an advantage there,” Andrade’s analysis began. “We haven’t seen what Joanna has been working on and if she’s been working on anything. But Joanna has always been Joanna. What she does is what she has been doing throughout her UFC career.

“Meanwhile, we saw Weili developing, and improving, and working on different things. So on paper, if you do the math, considering what happened the first fight, I would say that Weili has a better shot at winning. And I just want to fight whoever wins that fight.”

Andrade will certainly find her place right back in the strawweight rankings after her triumphant return Saturday. Once the world learns her precise placement, it will be much easier to play matchmaker for the former champion as she straps up for some potential redemption.

Who do you predict Jéssica Andrade will fight next?
