Legendary heavyweight boxer Wladimir Klitschko had a scary incident earlier this week.

Klitschko and his family needed to be rescued from a burning yacht in Spain. The Ukrainian Tweeted out the following message shortly after everything transpired:

“Be careful what you wish for: fate took my wish for “some #adrenalin” a bit too literally and our boat-trip Sunday night ended up in our boat #igniting and family & friends being evacuated by coast guard and fire rescue-team,” he posted. “No worries: we are all fine!”

He can be heard saying the following in the video:

“It’s 3 in the morning. We’re in the sea getting rescued from the Mallorcan/Spanish fire department, ” Klitschko could be heard saying in the video. “The boat was on fire, we’re hanging out outside.”

According to CNN, the incident took place at 2 a.m. on Monday when the yacht’s crew reached out for urgent assistance, according to Palma’s Maritime Rescue spokesman Miguel Chicon. Shortly after, the rescue boat, Salvamar Acrux, was sent out by the coastguard. The yacht was located a few miles southwest of Mallorca’s Port Adriano

After the yacht’s crew put out the fire, the rescue boat towed it to Port Adriano. Thankfully, no medical assistance was required for any of the yacht’s occupants:

“We called the firemen on shore, so they were prepared to assist in case there were other problems with the fire,” Chicon said. “At one point during the towing, smoke was coming up from the engine room, so the crew was evacuated aboard the rescue ship.”

Boxing’s heavyweight division might be gearing up to welcome back another big name.

According to the Ukrainian website Sport Arena, former heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko will return to the ring next month. The 43-year-old reportedly reached a three-fight deal with the DAZN streaming service for a guaranteed $120 million.

The contest will reportedly take place from the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, where Klitschko’s brother – former WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko – is the mayor. Kiev’s Olympic Stadium will reportedly play host to Klitschko’s return bout. An opponent has not been named as of this writing.

Sports Arena also notes that Klitschko’s deal includes a fight against a top fellow heavyweight such as Anthony Joshua, Deontay Wilder, or Tyson Fury. Klitschko’s last fight took place against Anthony Joshua in April of 2017. The pair put on an absolute classic which ended with an 11th round TKO victory for the Englishman.

The fight was quite the spectacle, as the pair drew 90,000 fans from London’s Wembley Stadium. They also received “Fight Of The Year” honors. If Klitschko wants to rematch Joshua, he needs to hope Jarrell Miller doesn’t pull off a major upset during their title clash in June.

It looks like former boxing heavyweight king Wladimir Klitschko is reportedly eying a comeback.

Klitschko hasn’t laced up his gloves since his 2017 defeat to Anthony Joshua. Prior to that, Klitschko suffered his first loss in over a decade to Tyson Fury. With the defeat to Fury, Klitschko lost the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO, The Ring, and lineal heavyweight championships. Fury bested the Russian after 12 rounds via unanimous decision.

After over a year off, Klitschko returned in attempt to regain his heavyweight straps. This time, however, he found himself against new heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. He shared the ring with the talented Englishman for 11 rounds before being stopped by Joshua. However, it was a highly-competitive contest in which Klitschko earned a knockdown at one point.

Klitschko attempted to earn a rematch with Joshua after his loss, but a deal was never able to be made. As a result, Klitschko ultimately decided to retire from fighting. But after seeing the resurgence in the heavyweight division thanks to the likes of Joshua, Fury, and Deontay Wilder, the 43-years-old is eager to return.

Potential Three Fights

According to a report from Mike Coppinger of FOX Sports, Klitschko was discussing a three-fight deal with the DAZN streaming service. The fights included a tune-up fight, and rematches against Fury and Joshua (in that order):

“Sources: Former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko was discussing a three-fight deal with DAZN that would end his retirement. First fight would be a tune-up, followed by rematches with Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua, in that order”

However, Klitschko reportedly told Sports Illustrated that is not true, and he’s instead negotiating a fight with Dillian Whyte. Klitschko initially didn’t have an interest in fighting Whyte, but that has all changed since his eagerness to return to boxing has ramped up:

“Klitschko told @SIChrisMannix it wasn’t true that he would discussing a fight with Dillian Whyte. He in fact wasn’t interested in boxing Whyte, but he’s keen on a comeback”
