UFC heavyweight champion, Cain Velasquez, and former champion, Junior Dos Santos, can finally anticipate a third UFC heavyweight title tilt with each other. The two set themselves up on a collision course with each other yet again after Saturday night’s UFC 160 card. If you will recall, that card saw Dos Santos knock out Mark Hunt while Velasquez TKOed Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva again.

MMA Junkie reported that the bout “almost certainly” could happen before the year closes out. However, UFC president Dana White did admit that no official date had been set in stone for that title defense. Still, excitement remains at an all-time high.

After all, Dos Santos finished Velasquez at UFC on Fox 1, while Velasquez dominantly took a unanimous decision from Dos Santos at UFC 155. Furthermore, some feel Dos Santos will take the rubber match, while others feel Velasquez will dominate Dos Santos again.

Either way, they all agree that one can expect a clear winner at the conclusion, and that feels quite appropriate given the two heavyweights involved. In a nutshell, one can define the UFC careers of both Velasquez and Dos Santos with the word “definitive.”

By definition, the word “definitive” means “serving to put an end to all debate or questioning,” and thinking back to Velasquez’s UFC run, as well as that of Dos Santos, can anyone find a doubt in the way either man earned their victories? Never mind that Dos Santos took decisions from Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin or that Velasquez almost got finished by Cheick Kongo.

The fact remains that they both clearly won those bouts and all of their other tilts inside the Octagon, just as they both clearly defeated each other, all injuries and over-training aside. Therefore, it seems appropriate that once this rubber match goes down, we will see one of these two score an incontestable victory over the other.

Why should we expect this? Simply put: Velasquez and Dos Santos always leave no doubt. Very few do that any better, and one of these two heavyweights will prove it when their trilogy concludes with the UFC heavyweight title once again on the line.
