Women’s bantamweight contenders Amanda Nunes and Germaine de Randamie are set to meet on the UFC Fight Night 31 fight card.
MMAJunkie.com reported the matchup between the top-10 female 135-pounders Monday evening.
Despite losing to Sarah D’Alelio at Invicta FC 4 in January, Nunes made her Octagon debut on Aug. 3. Nunes required only 128 seconds to stop Sheila Gaff and earn her first UFC win.
In beating Gaff, Nunes became the No. 7 contender in the women’s bantamweight division. Currently, Alexis Davis is the only fighter on the UFC roster to hold a win over Nunes. At 25 years old, Nunes has a bright future and could take a big step toward a title shot by beating De Randamie at UFC Fight Night 31.
De Randamie posted a 2-1 record under the Strikeforce banner before the organization closed. Since Strikeforce was purchased by the world’s top MMA promotion, De Randamie was brought in as one of the first women to join the UFC roster.
In July, De Randamie made a successful UFC debut, beating fellow Strikeforce veteran Julie Kedzie in a narrow decision. While she has not quite proven she’s a legitimate threat to UFC champion Ronda Rousey, De Randamie is ranked No. 8 in the shallow 135-pound female class. At 5’9″, De Randamie also owns a size advantage over most female bantamweights.
Also labeled UFC Fight for the Troops 3, UFC Fight Night 31 will be held on Nov. 6 at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.
With the addition of Nunes and De Randamie, here is the updated UFC Fight Night 31 fight card:
- Tim Kennedy vs. Lyoto Machida
- Rustam Khabilov vs. Jorge Masvidal
- Seth Baczynski vs. Neil Magny
- Ronny Markes vs. Yoel Romero
- Chris Camozzi vs. Lorenz Larkin
- Francisco Rivera vs. George Roop
- Michael Chiesa vs. Colton Smith
- Dennis Bermudez vs. Nik Lentz
- Liz Carmouche vs. Alexis Davis
- Bobby Green vs. James Krause
- Amanda Nunes vs. Germaine de Randamie
