Frankie Edgar posted a big win at UFC Fight Night 66 in the Philippines over former WEC champion Urijah Faber, but he kept on fighting long after the final bell rang. Speaking with UFC commentator Jon Anik immediately after the fight, Edgar spoke out on his place in the featherweight division and his desire for a title fight.

“I want that title, man,” he told Jon Anik in the cage (via Marc Raimondi of MMAFighting.com). “I know Dana’s not here again. I don’t know if he’s ducking me because he owes me a title shot.”

Edgar has made a strong case for another crack at the UFC’s 145-pound strap. At Fight Night 66 opposite Bleacher Report’s No. 4-ranked bantamweight, Edgar put on a masterful performance, avoiding The California Kid’s right hand and stuffing all his takedown attempts while handily outboxing him from beginning to end. The performance earned him a unanimous 50-45 decision victory—his fourth win in a row since dropping a close decision to the long-reigning featherweight champ, Jose Aldo, at UFC 156.

Aldo is currently set to face trash-talking Irish striker Conor McGregor at UFC 189 in July. In true arcade style, Edgar called dibs on the winner during the Fox Sports 2 post-fight show but hinted that he may take another fight if things don’t shake out his way.

“I’m not waiting, but anything can happen. … Maybe McGregor will win and I’ll just have to fight him right away,” he said. “Who knows? Let’s just hope whoever wins, I fight him next.”

While Edgar has been nearly untouchable in the cage of late, he will have to keep his fingers crossed when it comes to getting another title shot. If McGregor defeats Aldo, or if the fight ends in controversial fashion, an immediate rematch is likely to happen, which could tie the belt up until 2016. If Aldo wins, it would reopen talk of the champ vacating the title and moving up to the lightweight division.

Needless to say, the next few months will be quite interesting for the former champ.
