MMA fighter Lavar Johnson was reportedly arrested in August after an alleged attack on his girlfriend that included slamming her against a wall and punching her in the face multiple times.
TMZ Sports provided the newly emerging details about the incident Friday, which the outlet reports led to several felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon (his fists). He fled the scene before police arrived, but he was tracked down and taken into custody.
The report also states officers arrived to see a bloody scene, and the alleged victim had swelling on both her forehead and nose. She needed medical treatment and received staples to close one of the gashes.
Johnson holds an 18-10 career MMA record with 16 knockouts across stints with various promotions, including the UFC and, most recently, Bellator. His last bout was a submission loss to Cheick Kongo at Bellator 123 in September 2014.
He was let go by the UFC in 2013 after a failed drug test.
TMZ Sports reports he has pleaded not guilty to the charges and remains in a Fresno, California, jail on $120,000 bail. No future timeline for the case was immediately announced.
