In the buildup to the showdown between former teammates Jon Jones and Rashad Evans, FX has aired the first in a three-part series of UFC 145 Primetime.
The series chronicles the bitter dispute that’s been brewing between the pair ever since Jones captured the UFC Lightheavyweight Championship against Shogun Rua in March last year.
The first episode sets the background of a now familiar story: Evans the mentor of a rising star in Jones, who quickly outshone him, leading to feelings of betrayal and resentment.
In his self-imposed exile in Florida, Evans is seen making a fresh start with his new team, the Blackzilians. Meanwhile, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Jones and coach Greg Jackson reflect on a broken friendship and what they think it will take to retain the title.
The second and third parts will air in the same time period on April 13 and April 20, with the conclusion of the three-part special airing the night before Jones and Evans fight.
