This week’s “Ultimate Show” pulls out all the stops after what has been an eventful past week for the UFC.
First, Dan Henderson gets hurt, presumably leaving Chael Sonnen to step up and take on Jon Jones on eight days’ notice. Then, Jones turns down the Sonnen fight, ultimately killing the entire UFC 151 card set for Sept. 1 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. This was the first time in the Zuffa era that the UFC had to cancel a pay-per-view event, leaving UFC president Dana White extremely ticked off.
This pushed Lyoto Machida into front of the pack for the rematch against Jones for the September card, only to have Machida turn it down a day later.
So in steps Vitor Belfort to face Jones on Sept. 22 in the new UFC 152 main event.
I know, that was a little confusing…
Jake Ellenberger sat down with the “Ultimate Show” to give us his thoughts on his climb back to the top of the contention ladder. Ellenberger weighed in on everything from his training camp, to Jay Hieron, his next opponent in the Octagon.
On the officiating side, hear from the man himself, Herb Dean, on what really constitutes a 10-8 round, and Big Nasty is back to give us his UFC tweets of the week.
