The risk of injury is inherent in any sport, especially a sport in which bodily harm is par for the course. In this video, Dr. Jonathan Gelber breaks down the specifics of one particularly devastating injury, the ACL tear.

Georges St.-Pierre, Duane Ludwig and Dominick Cruz are among the MMA fighters who have suffered a torn ACL in the last year. Gelber walks us through the anatomy of an ACL tear, as well as the repair and recovery process.

This particularly injury is especially common in contact sports, but we’re rarely given an inside look at how and why it happens. In this video, Gelber gives us a better understanding of why a torn ACL requires extensive time for repair and rehab.
