After being dominated by Cain Velasquez in his UFC debut, Antonio Silva picked up his first win inside the Octagon by scoring a surprising knockout of Travis Browne in the UFC on FX 5 main event.
Silva has some work to do before he can be considered a serious heavyweight contender, but this win over Browne showed the Brazilian is still one of the most talented big men in MMA.
This loss to Silva marked the first in Browne’s career. The Greg Jackson-trained heavyweight has now failed in both of his attempts to break through to the next level of his division, as he also fought to an uneventful draw against Cheick Kongo in October 2010.
As Silva looks to make a run at the heavyweight division’s elite and Browne tries to rebound quickly, let’s take a look at what opponents could be next for both fighters and the rest of the UFC on FX 5 competitors.
