The first UFC event of the year had its fair share of talking points and one of them came in the second bout to take place inside the Octagon in 2025. Victoria Dudakova suffered her second consecutive loss after being stopped in the second round by Fatima Kline at strawweight.

Rather than Kline delivering the first finish of the new year, it was what happened after the bout that grabbed the headlines. After Dudakova’s corner entered the Octagon to console her in defeat, she appeared to turn around and slap one of her coaches, who is also her husband, as seen below.

The 25-year old Russian has since posted a message on social media to explain the situation from her point of view. She publicly apologized for her actions, stating that her emotions got the better of her in that moment having been finished for the first time in her 10-fight pro career.

She posted the following message on Instagram to provide more context and thank her supporters.

“Emotions have subsided a bit…..First of all, I would like to apologize to my husband and coach. I was hurt that in such a difficult moment, he turned his back on me and didn’t want to come into the cage. That’s no excuse and I’m not looking for an excuse for myself. I did the wrong thing, I couldn’t control my emotions. I set a bad example for the athletes and the younger generation. I also want to apologize to the sports fans. Thank you to everyone who stays with me in such a difficult situation”

Whittaker says in the past he’d have hit Adesanya with his car if he could. Now they’re training together and hanging out, and ‘The Reaper’ admits it’s a good time.

Robert Whittaker could become a regular face at City Kickboxing after photos revealed “The Reaper” training alongside Israel Adesanya in New Zealand earlier this week.

Whittaker and Adesanya were rivals in the past, with “The Last Stylebender” taking the middleweight title off “Reaper” in 2019. Izzy would then knock back a Whittaker title challenge in 2022, making him 2-0 over the Australian fighter.

Now it sounds like the two may become teammates. In an interview with FOX Sports Australia, Whittaker discussed the visit to City Kickboxing and what it may mean for his future.

“If you would’ve asked me a few years ago if I ever seen this coming, the answer would’ve been, ‘Not in 100 years.’”

“Where we were with the team back home, one of my training partners got injured, a couple of the boys had other commitments … I sat down with the team, and Alex [Prates] was like, ‘We need some bodies. How are we gonna get them?’ We started looking around and then like a lightening bold we realized, ‘Mate, City Kickboxing is only a two and a half hour flight away, and they’ve got the bodies.’”

“It’s New Zealand, the place of my birth. Everything just started lining up, right? So, Alex reached out to Eugene [Bareman] and had a conversation. Me, Alex, and a couple of training partners came over here to test the waters to see if we get along … and we are getting along.”

There’s only so many options when it comes to MMA training in Australia and New Zealand. If you want a pool of top UFC talent, there’s no bigger pool than what City Kickboxing provides. We don’t know if it will provide Whittaker with the grappling chops he needs to get up to Khamzat Chimaev’s level, but you’d have to leave Oceania to get that.

As for how he likes training with Israel Adesanya?

“I don’t know if I hated him, but I’m pretty sure that 10 years ago I would’ve hit him with my car if I could have,” Whittaker said. “It was that sort of relationship. It’s funny, I just left his house. I was sitting on the couch with him working on his YouTube stuff. I’m still kind of reeling. It’s a funny world.”

“You’ve got to be open to his stuff and have an open mind to be able to work through that so everyone can get better. I think it’s a good path to growth. We get along. Even when I was just chilling with him before, and talking with him, you can see a lot of the common interests make that really easy.”

Think you can figure out which UFC fighter we’re talking about? You’ll get five clues to figure him out.

We’re back for another day of the SB Nation UFC in-5 daily trivia game, and we’re switching to a system of a new article each day for the game.

We tried using a single article for the game, updated with the latest game each day, but it was creating a bit of an unwieldy experience in the comments. So, we’ll have the current day’s game plus the previous three days in each new article. That way, you can catch up if you miss a day.

Game instructions are at the bottom if you’re new to the game!

What we need from you

  1. Play the game
  2. Share your result in the comments and on social media
  3. Provide feedback (Google Form or in comments below)

Today’s UFC in-5 game

Tuesday’s UFC in-5 game

Monday’s UFC in-5 game

Sunday’s UFC in-5 game

The goal of the game is to guess the correct random UFC fighter player with the help of up to five clues. We’ll mix in BOTH ACTIVE AND RETIRED FIGHTERS. It won’t be easy to figure it out in one or two guesses, but some of you might be able to nail it. It will be a mix of well-known players and some “that guys” that we haven’t thought of in some time. The game will appear in slot #3 of the MMA Mania layout each morning, with occasional movement later in the day.

After you correctly guess the player, you can click “Share Results” to share how you did down in the comments and on social media.
