After suffering one of the biggest (if not the biggest) health scares in the history of this sport, Dhafir Harris returns to social media with a major update.

There was much well-deserved concern for Harris after his bout with arch-nemesis Kimbo Slice at Bellator 149, in which he was carried out of the cage on a stretcher. It was later discovered that he had not only suffered renal failure, but cardiac arrest as well. The Miami native resurfaced today on Instagram with a post containing the usual requisite shows of appreciation and gratitude to supporters, etc – but also noted some interesting items regarding his condition during the fight and the aftermath of the fight. Unfortunately, the post has since been deleted, but we managed to nab a screenshot, just for you.

Dada's Instagram update

“To All My fans, Supporters, Haters, And Critics Alike. I haven’t been on Social media due to situations Beyond My Control. (Not because of the outcome of the fight) Tune in to ESPN Dan Lebatard Tv and Radio Show This Wednesday @12 Noon. In my up and coming interview as I will put an end to all Accusations, Opinions Speculations, and Assumptions about the Fight. A lot of folks celebrities alike have jump to conclusions without the facts. Yes I trained very hard for this fight and I was in Fighting Shape.. But those who knew me they knew that something wasn’t right by the look in my Eyes when I stepped into that ring. But Stay tuned for the rest of that shocking story (Coming up) But tune in this Wednesday @ 12 noon on the ESPN the Dan Lebatard Tv and Radio Show! For the 1st of many interviews from DADA5OOO! Yes I did have kidney failure during the fight I also had 2 heart attacks which I did code aka Died during the Fight. Glory to the Most High which saw favor in me to bring me back. which put me in Memorial Herman Hospital in Houston Texas for more then 3 weeks after the fight. Just to come back to Miami and to continue treatment at South Miami Hospital. Thank you all for your Prayers And Support I will make a full recovery and will be back Bigger, Faster and stronger than ever before that much you can Count On!!!”

Various questions can and perhaps should be asked of this update. For example, what would constitute “fighting shape” for Harris? Not to question him or his reputation, but he was noticeably not very mobile nor well-conditioned for the bout. Second – is he alluding to a return to fighting? A 38-year-old man that had not one, but two heart attacks during a fight as well as renal failure isn’t something that most commissions would be happy to sign off on – and I should also remind you that Kimbo/Dada took place in Texas, of all places.

Would Bellator take him back? Furthermore, it’s not unreasonable to make assumptions regarding a fighter’s health when they come into a fight and have a performance such as the one displayed against Kimbo, which we should remind you didn’t really end due to a strike, but falling back from fatigue after Ferguson whiffed a massive punch.

The post served the purpose of letting us know he’s good and well for now, as well as advertising an appearance on the Dan LeBatard radio/television show where one can expect he will at least attempt to shed some light on the subject. We expect to provide more information when available.

Well, apparently UFC Women’s Strawweight star Felice Herrig is going to take another crack at the reality television world.

Herrig, who appeared on The Ultimate Fighter and American Ninja Warrior in the past, will once again appear on American Ninja Warrior for their upcoming season airing on NBC.

As seen in the above video, Herrig, who competed in the show last season, didn’t exactly fare well.

Harris was in Houston for almost three weeks after the controversial event recovering from cardiac arrest, a broken orbital bone, and severe dehydration, fatigue, an renal failure after a reported 4-pound weight cut to make the heavyweight limit. Now that he’s apparently back to health, he got on Instagram today to briefly describe what happened to him before quickly delting the post.

In the post, Harris wrote that he had two heart attacks and ‘died’ in the fight:

“Yes I trained very hard for this fight and I was in Fighting Shape. But those who knew me they knew that something wasn’t right by the look in my eyes when I stepped into that ring.

Get the odds here for the big Manny Pacquiao vs. Timothy Bradley PPV showdown this Saturday.

This Saturday night, future Hall of Fame fighter Manny Pacquiao competes in what he says is his final professional fight when he takes on rival Timothy Bradley. Pacquiao vs. Bradley III is live on HBO PPV this Saturday, April 9 with a fight time of 9:00 p.m. ET.

Here are the current fight odds courtesy of OddsShark, as of Wednesday afternoon:

Manny Pacquiao -225
Timothy Bradley +175

The legend Pacquiao is the favorite here, but those are insanely close odds for him. In his last fight he was the underdog to Floyd Mayweather, but setting that aside, Pacquiao has rarely seen himself as this small a favorite during his career. He was at roughly these odds in the 4th Juan Manuel Marquez fight (a fight that ended in a Pacquiao KO loss), and before that you have to go all the way back to Ricky Hatton in 2009 for similar Pacquiao odds.

For the first two Bradley fights, the odds closed at -450 for Pacquiao, +330 for Bradley for fight #1, and -280 Pacquiao, +240 Bradley for fight #2. Most consider Pacquiao the winner of both of those fights, yet between his age, his loss to Mayweather, and Bradley’s record, the odds have moved much closer here.

For a big time boxing fight, the odds usually aren’t this good. If you feel confident in a Pacquiao win, as many do, this is a good chance to place a bet. And if you’re a Bradley fan, his return is decent as well.

Verdict: Worth a bet for either man

Here are the rest of the odds for the PPV card:

Manny Perez +600
Jose Ramirez -1000

Evgeny Gradovich +600
Oscar Valdez -1000

Arthur Abraham +180
Gilberto Ramirez -230

Best odds for placing a bet there are on Gradovich, who I am frankly stunned to see as such a massive underdog. I certainly get why Valdez is the favorite, but that’s a winnable for for Gradovich, and at +600, a bet on him is pretty tempting.

Verdict: Take a shot on Gradovich

Finally, also taking place this weekend is the Anthony Joshua vs. Charles Martin Heavyweight title fight. Challenger Joshua is the favorite at -500 to Martin’s +350.

UFC 197: Unlike Daniel Cormier, Ovince Saint Preux has the respect of Jon Jones

Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier went toe-to-toe on Twitter recently, despite the fact that “Bones” is no longer fighting “DC” at UFC 197 on April 23, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada (because of this).

The reason behind the online beef — other than the obvious — came to be after Cormier offered to fly in Ovince Saint Preux to train with him ahead of his interim title fight against Jones, which will serve as the new headlining title fight at UFC 197.

A move Jones dubbed as “cowardly.”

But just because he took time out of his day to squabble online with Cormier, doesn’t mean his isn’t focused on the task at hand against Ovince. In fact, as he recently told MMA Junkie, he is going to give Saint Preux all the respect he deserves come fight night, something Daniel doesn’t have.

“I’m going to give him the respect he deserves, which is my full and undivided attention. I know that sounds a little funny after my rant with ‘DC,’ but ‘DC,’ he doesn’t have my respect. So many of my fans tell me, ‘Jon, don’t argue with DC, it’s just a strategy so you’re not focusing on Ovince Saint Preux.’ But literally I just deal with ‘DC’ on Twitter for a second then my whole day is about Ovince. He has my full and undivided attention.”

And it’s a good thing, too, as Ovince comes in as a huge underdog for the interim title fight, which means he doesn’t have anything to lose, but everything to gain.

That’s why “Bones” isn’t underestimating his fellow 205-pound comrade.

“Every fighter is a new challenge you’ve never seen before, for the most part. They zigzag and react a little differently. I knew nothing about him a few days ago, but I’ve been studying him nonstop. I feel like I know him pretty well now, studying his character, studying his fighting skills. I respect him. He seems like a good person, a hard worker. He’s young in the sport, ambitious and is taking the opportunity of a lifetime. I’m sure he’s going to give it all he’s got. Me being a veteran I know the importance of not underestimating. I’m not going to underestimate him.”

As for his unfinished business with Cormier, Jones says if everything turns out in his favor on April 23, he’s not opposed to taking on his bitter rival at UF 200 on July 9, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada. If not, he wouldn’t mind going back home to New York to potentially headline UFC’s first-ever event in “The Empire State.”

That’s a title fight that would go a long way in assuring the company’s first venture in New York is “epic and massive.”

Rampage Jackson vs. Satoshi Ishii headlines Bellator: Dynamite 2

Former UFC champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (36-11) returns after a one year layoff to face Satoshi Ishii (14-5-1) at Bellator: Dynamite 2, scheduled for June 24th in St. Louis.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson will return to fighting after more than a year away from the cage. Bellator MMA brought him back after a lawsuit settlement, and now it’s official: Rampage will return on June 24th against Satoshi Ishii, in the main event of Bellator: Dynamite 2, at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reported the story on Tuesday night, while Bellator officials sent out the press release on Wednesday. The fight will be contested at a 215 lbs catchweight.

Jackson (36-11), last fought at UFC 186 in April 2015, when he defeated Fabio Maldonado via unanimous decision. The fight was preceded by a legal battle between the UFC and Bellator. The lawsuit filed by Bellator one month before the event claimed that Rampage still had fights left on his exclusive contract with the organization, therefore he should have been prevented from fighting for any other promotion. After an initial injunction was reversed by a New Jersey judge, Jackson was finally allowed to fight against Maldonado.

After his crushing defeat to Fedor Emelianenko back in 2011, Satoshi Ishii (14-5-1) made a decent effort to become a top heavyweight fighter. The Japanese Olympic gold medalist in judo was fighting mostly at IGF events and made an impressive 8-fight winning streak from 2012 to 2014. He defeated notable MMA veterans like Tim Sylvia, Pedro RizzoKazuyuki Fujita, and Jeff Monson before suffering two straight TKO losses to Mirko Cro Cop. In 2015, he fought 3 times, successfully stopping William Penn (8-5) and Nick Rossborough (25-19-1), but experienced another heavy KO loss to Jiri Prochazka in the Rizin FF light heavyweight tournament in December. The Rampage fight will be a Bellator debut for the 29-year-old.

The Dynamite 2 event becomes the 2nd Bellator show to date to feature both MMA and kickboxing match-ups, this time with Bellator Kickboxing replacing GLORY. Last year’s inaugural card was headlined by Liam McGeary’s armbar win over Tito Ortiz, as well as a GLORY light heavyweight championship fight between Saulo Cavalari and Zack Mwekassa.
