UFC President Dana White believes former women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is “ready to fight” again, and she will return to the Octagon in November or December. That could open the door for a rumoured third bout with current champion Miesha Tate.

Appearing on the TMZ Sports TV show, White revealed he had dinner with Rousey shortly before, and when he was asked how she was doing, he said she’s in a “great place mentally, physically and emotionally.”

Here’s a look at the video of the interview:

Rousey hasn’t fought since her shock loss against Holy Holm at UFC 193 this past November, where she suffered the first loss of her UFC career, per ESPN.com. Holm dominated the fight by keeping her distance and did plenty of damage with kicks and punches, sending Rousey back to her corner a bloody mess after the first round.

In the second round, she delivered a vicious kick to Rousey’s throat that knocked her out, a fitting end to what had been a serious beating. Rousey suffered plenty of physical damage in that bout, but the emotional damage may have been worse.

She appeared on the Ellen Degeneres Show and openly admitted she contemplated suicide in the wake of the loss, describing how the defeat made her question her identity:

The 29-year-old has remained out of the public eye since then, leading to questions whether she would return to the Octagon at all. Per TMZ Sports, she shot down chatter about a possible retirement in January, and the focus has since shifted to her next opponent.

A rematch with Holm made most sense from the UFC’s perspective, and it’s safe to assume Rousey would like to have another crack at the only woman who has bested her in the Octagon. But with Tate defeating Holm at UFC 196 in her first title defence, rumours of a third meeting between the new champion and Rousey have also spread.

In the aftermath of Tate’s win, White said he believed the two would meet for a title bout, per ESPN (via Damon Martin of Fox Sports).

Speaking to Maxim (h/t MMAFighting.com’s David St. Martin), Tate confirmed she’d be interested in another bout with Rousey, but she doesn’t know who the organisation will line up for her next:

I don’t know who’s going to be next. I still have to talk to the UFC. I’ve got to let the dust settle and figure out what my options are. [Rousey or Holm] would be excellent fights for sure. Also there’s Amanda Nunes. There’s Cat Zingano, there’s Julianna Pena. I don’t want to get fixated on that person until I know who it is. I have to be ready as a champ for anyone, anytime. I have a big target on my back. I’ll be ready for whoever.

Rousey has beaten Tate twice, and the current champion was the only fighter to ever make it out of the first round against Rousey until Holm came along. Tate is undefeated since her second loss against Rousey in 2013, per ESPN.com

For Rousey, a third bout with Tate would likely be most appealing. She knows she can beat the 29-year-old, and it could see her regain the belt on her return to the Octagon.

But that’s assuming Tate is willing to wait until the end of the year to fight again. If she doesn’t, the UFC could be facing a similar scenario as what happened to Holm, per MMA Supremacy:

An immediate rematch between Holm and Rousey would have been very lucrative for the UFC, and while the two would still do well at the box office should they meet in the future, it wouldn’t be the same without a belt on the line.

Holm remains an option, but the former boxing star proved a stylistic mismatch in their first meeting, and Rousey would need a lot of work in camp to get ready for such a fight. If Tate is still the champion by the end of the year and Rousey wants Holm, a title eliminator would be the perfect scenario, but if Rousey plays her cards right, Tate will likely be waiting for her upon her return.

Jon Jones wishes Daniel Cormier a ‘healthy recovery’: ‘Enjoy that belt’

Jon Jones went on Twitter to wish the injured Daniel Cormier a healthy recovery.

On Friday, Daniel Cormier was forced out of his highly anticipated rematch with Jon Jones at UFC 197 with an injury, bringing a halt to their trash talk. Cormier and Jones clearly do not like each other, but Jones isn’t into talking smack to his injured opponent.

Jones posted the following message on Twitter, Saturday:

I don’t wish injuries on anyone, I hope you have a healthy recovery Daniel. Enjoy that belt

— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) April 2, 2016

Now we have to wait and see whether or not a replacement fighter will get the call to step up on short notice, or if the Cormier-Jones rematch will be delayed to a later date, such as July’s UFC 200. If it is delayed and no replacement is sought, a flyweight title scrap between Demetrious Johnson and Henry Cejudo will likely be elevated to main event status.

UFC 197 takes place live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 23.

UFC President Dana White spoke with TMZ Sports and commented on when he expects for Rousey to return to the octagon.

“I just had dinner with her the other night. She’s in a great place mentally, physically, emotionally — every way you can be good, she’s good,” White said. “She’s talking about coming back at the end of this year.”

White would then explain that he expects her to return in November or December.

“She’ll either come back in November or December. She’s ready again,” White said. “She’s ready to fight. Yep, she’s ready.”

White has already confirmed that Rousey will fight Miesha Tate for the women’s bantamweight title. That would be a trilogy fight for the two fighters. Rousey has beaten Tate twice. Rousey beat Tate in March of 2012 by first-round armbar then in December of 2013 at UFC 168; Rousey submitted Tate with an armbar in the third round.

Jon Jones has finally broken his silence regarding the unfortunate news that Daniel Cormier has pulled out of their scheduled rematch for the UFC Light Heavyweight Championship at the UFC 197 pay-per-view scheduled for later this month.

The news was broken on Friday that due to an “undisclosed injury,” Cormier was forced to pull out of the Jones rematch at UFC 197 on April 23rd.

It had been feared that due to Jones’ ongoing legal issues, he would force a cancellation to the highly-anticipated Jones-Cormier rematch, however in the end, it was the return of the “injury bug” that forced the fight to be scrapped.

On Saturday, “Bones” Jones took to social media to comment on the fact that Cormier pulled out of their fight.

“I don’t wish injuries on anyone,” wrote Jones on his official Twitter page. “I hope you have a healthy recovery Daniel. Enjoy that belt.”

UFC 197 takes place on Saturday, April 23rd in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Michael Bisping appeared on this week’s edition of “Inside MMA” on AXS TV and while speaking with hosts Bas Rutten and Ron Kruck, he had plenty to say about the UFC’s current 185-pound landscape.

When asked about the possibility of challenging reigning champion Luke Rockhold for the title in a rematch of a fight he lost to Rockhold the first time around, “The Count” claims he’ll still be able to generate interest in a Bisping-Rockhold bout by the time the fight hits the Octagon.

“This is a business and I will sell that fight. People will want to see me fight Rockhold. I will get people interested. Everyone else in the division they’re all boring, or can’t speak English, or they’re all taking steroids and serving suspensions.”

Regarding the upcoming title rematch between Rockhold and former champion Chris Weidman, which headlines UFC 199 in June, Bisping feels Rockhold will have an easier time with Weidman this time around.

“I think Rockhold is going to go out there he’ll smoke Weidman again. He’ll make it look even easier. And I’ll finally get my chance to get my hands on blondie and smash those good looks.”

Headlined by Rockhold-Weidman II for the UFC Middleweight title and featuring Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber III for the UFC Bantamweight title, UFC 199 takes place at The Forum in Inglewood, California on Saturday, June 4, 2016.
