Dominick Cruz has taken a leap up the pound-for-pound list in the newest edition of the UFC rankings.

This week’s Cowboy vs. Cowboy event didn’t have much relevance on the rankings list at all, other than Donald Cerrone moving to welterweight so he fell down the lightweight list. Nonetheless, there was a lot of movement in some divisions, including a lot in the pound-for-pound list. And the biggest benefactor was UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz.

Cruz, who recently defeated rival T.J. Dillashaw for the belt, moved into the top five at P4P, which is up three spots. Another mover this week was Stephen Thompson, who passed Tyron Woodley on the 170-pound list. Here’s a look of how it all went down division-by-division.

P4P – As mentioned, Cruz is up three to the four spot. Fabricio Werdum dropped one to six. Luke Rockhold is up one to seven. Robbie Lawler dropped two spots to eight. Daniel Cormier and Jose Aldo flip-flopped the nine and ten spots. Frankie Edgar moved up one spot to 14, bumping Joanna Jedrzejczyk to 15.

HeavyweightAndrei Arlovski dropped one spot to six. He had been in a tie with Junior dos Santos for five.

Light HeavyweightAntonio Rogerio Nogueira moved back up one spot to 10, bumping Patrick Cummins to 11.

MiddleweightAnderson Silva has a fight coming up, so I guess that means he should move up the list. He jumped two spots to five, dropping Tim Kennedy to six and his opponent, Michael Bisping, to seven. Derek Brunson’s big win in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 83 helped him to move up one spot to 12. He passed Rafael Natal, who dropped to 13.

Welterweight – Thompson passed Tyron Woodley for the number two contender spot, which could be quite a big deal. Also, Hector Lombard quietly re-entered the rankings at 14, tied with Albert Tumenov.

Lightweight – Cerrone’s move to welterweight helped some people move up. Cowboy dropped four spots to nine. Nate Diaz, who will fight Conor McGregor at welterweight at UFC 196, moved up one spot to five. Michael Johnson is up one to six. Beneil Dariush is up two spots to seven.

FeatherweightBrian Ortega moved up one spot to 12, passing Tatsuya Kawajiri who was robbed at UFC Fight Night 83 by inept officiating and general biases. Crusher will be back.

Bantamweight – No changes.

Flyweight – No changes.

Women’s BantamweightMarion Reneau dropped three spots to 15. This allowed Raquel Pennington and Germaine de Randamie to move up one spot to 12 and 13 respectively. Lauren Murphy entered the list at 14.

Women’s StrawweightMichelle Waterson moved up two spots to 8, with Joanne Calderwood dropping two spots to ten. Karolina Kowalkiewicz took the 11 spot from Randa Markos, dropping her to 12.

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and his new opponent for March 5’s UFC 196, the polarizing Nate Diaz, met up for a pre-fight press conference earlier today (Wed., February 24, 2016), and not surprisingly, the results produced some noteworthy fireworks.

Much of that came in the form of Diaz’ suggestion that the entire UFC, including ‘Notorious,’ is on steroids, a concern they’ve no doubt had to deal with in full force when a series of drug test failures left them no choice but to enact new and stringent testing policies in conjunction with the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA).

But regardless of the testing protocol in place, Diaz still thinks all of the major fighters are using:

“They’re all on steroids. They’re all on steroids. Everybody.”

With the original question about the weight of the fight, which will be contested two weight classes up from McGregor’s normal featherweight, ‘Mystic mac’ used the stage to forcefully reply to Diaz’ accusations:

“I don’t care about weight. Steroids? What you talking about, steroids? Don’t be putting my name in with steroids. Don’t put my name in the name of steroids, Nate. The only weight I give a fuck about is the weight of them checks, and my checks are always super heavyweight, so I don’t give a shit.”

McGregor then referred back to Diaz’ profanity-filled callout of McGregor following his win over Michael Johnson at UFC on FOX 17, noting that he hasn’t ‘taken what Diaz has worked for’ and has worked hard for everything he’s earned in the fight game:

“He talks like I took something from him; that’s what he said after the fight, ‘I’ve taken everything he’s worked for.’ I work like a motherfucker. I don’t get out of shape; he gets out of shape. His fight against dos Anjos, he looked like the skinniest fat guy I’ve ever seen in my life. The last fight he came in in shape. This time now the fact that he’s asking for weight changes all the time, I’d imagine he probably got out of shape again, so I took none from him, I work hard. I work hard, and that’s it.”

While there isn’t much doubt that Diaz was definitely out of shape when he lost a one-sided decision to the lightweight champ back at UFC on FOX 13, Diaz didn’t seem to care about the criticism. Instead, he stuck to his initial stance that the entirety of the UFC was on PEDs:

“Everybody’s on steroids, the whole UFC, everybody.”

McGregor was visibly upset when that came out, and he had a stinging reply ready to go. Read on to the next page to find out what ‘The Notorious’ came back at Diaz with….

UFC 196: Conor McGregor rips Rafael dos Anjos, Frankie Edgar for having ‘sore vaginas’

The UFC 196 pre-fight press conference took place earlier today (Weds., Feb. 24, 2016) to promote the upcoming — and last-minute — fight between Ultimate Fighting Championship (UF)C Featherweight champion, Conor McGregor, and Nate Diaz, which is set to go down on March 5, 2016, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

And boy was it wild!

Aside from the non-stop back-and-forth verbal warfare between Conor and Nate, “Notorious” took the time to throw some salt on Rafael dos Anjos and Frankie Edgar’s wounds after “RDA” bowed out with a foot injury and “The Answer” declined the last-second fight with a groin injury.

And he did it in true McGregor fashion:

“They all have sore vaginas lately. It’s crazy. There’s something going on, I don’t know. Dos Anjos broke his foot and his vagina in the same damn day, same with Edgar. I couldn’t believe the odds of that happening. If this belt is on the line, I’m racking belts up. I’m racking checks up and the checks outweigh the belts. When a man fights me, they need to take 10 months to a year off. You can’t bounce back from a fight. That’s no joke. You can’t take head trauma and bounce back into the gym and spar. These people think they can do that. Mendes done it and now his chin will never recover after that. You need to take proper time. I understand. I bounced Jose Aldo’s head off the canvas like a basketball. He needs to take a year or year and half off. That’s for his health.”

Ouch!

Diaz was pegged as late replacement for “RDA,” though there wasn’t a shortage of fighters throwing their names in the hat, including Anthony Pettis and Donald Cerrone. In the end, UFC president Dana White felt a fight between McGregor and Diaz — which will be contested at Welterweight — was the fight fans wanted to see.

Or was it because of this:

Why Gregor didn’t pick Cerrone to fight!? He loves some out of shape with 10 days notice like Mendez. Want 2 belts? Gotta beat me

What a wild press conference that was. Both Conor McGregor (19-2) and Nate Diaz (18-10) put on a show for the fans today with the back-and-forth verbal jabs.

Nate Diaz threw a wild accusation that Conor McGregor and every other fighter use’s steroids in the UFC.

“Everybody is on steroids,” Diaz said at the press conference. “The whole UFC.”

McGregor did not take the accusation lightly and reminded Nate Diaz that his teammates Gilbert Melendez and Jake Shields were caught for PED use.

“I’m not on no steroids,” McGregor said. “What the [expletive] are you talking about? Your two teammates were on steroids.”

Diaz did not respond to what McGregor said about Melendez and Shields but was firm about his stance that McGregor was on steroids.

Dana White later said to TMZ that Diaz was wrong and the UFC has the best anti-doping program in sports. The UFC president said that fighters would be caught if anyone was using PEDs. UFC 196 is slated to take place March 5th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.
