Francis Ngannou

Dana White has revealed his plan is to have Francis Ngannou defend his UFC heavyweight title against Derrick Lewis in Houston this summer.

The UFC president has been talking up a rematch between Ngannou and Lewis for some time now, but the fight is yet to be made official.

In an interview with Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports, White insisted that despite the fact an official announcement is yet to be made, Lewis is definitely next in line and it’ll be ‘The Black Beast’ fighting Ngannou this summer, not Jon Jones who continues to bulk up for his heavyweight debut.

“Derrick Lewis is getting that fight, White said. “My people were just telling me that Jon Jones came out yesterday and said he’s not fighting until next year.”

Iole later deleved deeper for some more information about the soon to be booked heavyweight title bout.

White revealed his plan is to take the fight to Houston, Texas, this summer after the success of UFC 262.

“We just had a great experience in Houston,” White said. “I’ll probably take that fight back to Houston.”

Lewis is the last man to defeat Ngannou. The pair shared the Octagon in July 2018 in a fight that has become infamously known as one of the worst in MMA history. The UFC boss and fight fans are optimistic that Lewis and Ngannou will deliver a second time round.

Sine then the Cameroonian knockout artist has been on fire, picking up five consecutive stoppage win and a UFC title in the process.

Lewis has been in some fine form of his own winning five of seven fights. ‘The Black Beast’ is currently riding a four-fight win streak which included a spectacular knockout win over Curtis Blaydes last time out.

Do you think Houston is the right host city for Francis Ngannou vs. Derrick Lewis II?

Dana White Unsure On Sanchez’s UFC Future Following Fabia Split

Dana White is unsure if Diego Sanchez will return to the UFC for one final fight following his very public split from Joshua Fabia.

The Ultimate Fighter Season One winner was cut last month ahead of his proposed retirement fight against Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone at UFC Vegas 26.

Sanchez’s controversial coach/manager, Joshua Fabia, quickened his client’s departure from the UFC when he requested all the medical files relating to Sanchez, causing concern amongst UFC staff that ‘The Nightmare’ could be suffering with a medical issue heading into his final fight. Sanchez was asked to confirm he is fit to fight by the UFC but refused to do so on the advice of his lawyer. The UFC Hall of Famer was cut by the promotion soon after and Cerrone instead fought Alex Morono at UFC Vegas 26.

In the days following his UFC release Sanchez stuck by Fabia and even spoke out against the company. The 39-year-old suggested he feared for his life after taking on a multi-billion-dollar company.

The relationship between Sanchez and Fabia has soured over the last week. Sanchez cut all professional ties with Fabia who has since come out with a slew of accusations towards his former friend who he claims has a drug problem and threw his fight against Michael Chiesa.

In an interview with Kevin Iole, Dana White insisted he hasn’t been paying any attention to the Sanchez – Fabia saga but maintains anytime ‘The Nightmare’ needs him, he’s just a phone call away.

“I haven’t really paid attention to any of that. I don’t care what that guy says. This is one of those things, I was just telling the media the other day. Every time you guys asked me about the Triller guys, it’s like, come on, you want a reaction from me, that’s what you’re looking for. I feel the same way about this kid. All you guys know this kid’s bat sh*t nuts. If Diego needs me just like the last, however many years. Diego’s never been that needy guy. I did see where he came out and said, ‘I’ve been trying to talk to Dana.’ Diego Sanchez can pick up the phone and call me, (it’s the same with) any of those TUF kids. I had a falling out a few years ago with Josh Koscheck. If Josh Koscheck picked up the phone and called me, I would talk to Josh Koscheck. If any of those kids needed me all they gotta do is pick up the phone and call me. Diego Sanchez, this will always be his house. He will always be a part of the history of this company and as long as I’m here he’ll always be respected for what he’s done for the UFC and the Ultimate Fighter.

Despite the fact Sanchez has now parted with his troublesome coach, White is unsure if he’ll offer the UFC veteran a route back to the Octagon for one final fight.

“I don’t know,” White said. “I honestly don’t know. Even when we were doing a farewell fight I didn’t love it. I didn’t love the fact that he’s still fighting, but no matter what I do, if I let Diego go he’ll probably end up somewhere else. That’s what I was thinking at the time and I love the kid. He wanted one more fight, I was going to give it to him and then all hell broke loose, and here we are today.

Do you think Dana White should offer Diego Sanchez on final UFC fight?

“If I want it to go one round, it’ll go one round. If I want it to go two, two. It’s all up to me”.

I think it’s safe to say Floyd Mayweather Jr. isn’t taking his upcoming boxing match with Logan Paul seriously.

The 50-0 boxer revealed in a recent interview with Barstool Sports that he has no strategy for the matchup and that he simply has to ‘show up’ on fight night to beat his opponent.

“No strategy. I’ve just got to show up,” Floyd said, hinting that he will toy with Paul in the boxing ring.

“If I want it to go one round, it’ll go one round. If I want it to go two, two. It’s all up to me. His first name is Logan … Logan Fall after June 6, because he’s gonna fall. Tune in.”

Mayweather will return to the ring in his first fight since 2018, when he disposed of Japanese kickboxing prodigy Tenshin Nasukawa via first-round TKO in an exhibition match at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan. His upcoming fight with Paul, which takes place on June 6 at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium, will also serve as an exhibition. Paul is 0-1 as a professional boxer while Floyd is widely considered one of the greatest boxers of all time, making this one of the biggest mismatches in combat sports history.

Max Holloway vs. Yair Rodriguez Set To Headline On July 17

A fantastic featherweight fight between Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez is set to headline on July 17 according to a report from ESPN journalist, Brett Okamoto. “Oh boy. Here we go. A fantastic featherweight fight between Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez is set to headline on July 17 according to a report from ESPN journalist, Brett Okamoto.

“Oh boy. Here we go. Five round main event, July 17. Max Holloway (@BlessedMMA vs. Yair Rodriguez (@panteraufc), per Dana White,” Okamoto wrote on social media. “The self proclaimed best boxer in MMA returns.”

Holloway appears happy to stay busy as he awaits a shot at the upcoming 145lb title fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega. ‘Blessed’ put on what was arguably a career-best performance when dismantling Calvin Kattar over five rounds earlier this year. The emphatic win came after successive defeats to the current featherweight king, Volkanovski.

At just 29-years-old, ‘Blessed’ has already established himself as one of the best 145lb fighters of all-time. The former champion holds several high profile wins over the likes of Charles Oliveira, Anthony Pettis, Jose Aldo (X2), Brian Ortega and Frankie Edgar.

This summer, he’ll square off against one of the most exciting prospects in MMA. Rodriguez has been around for a while now but hasn’t managed to get the run of fights needed to propel him into serious title contention.

‘El Pantera’ is known for securing highlight-reel knockout finishes and has already beaten the likes of Dan Hooker, B.J. Penn, Chan Sung Jung and Jeremy Stephens during his UFC run.

Rodriguez is set to return for his first fight since October 2019. A mixture of injury, issues with USADA, and a failed match-up with Zabit Magomedsharipov have contributed to his lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Although it hasn’t been expressly stated it appears whoever wins this fight between the #1 and #3 ranked featherweight contenders will be next in line for a shot at UFC gold.

Who do you think will win on July 17? Max Holloway or Yair Rodriguez?
