For the first time in nearly a year, we get to see Georges St-Pierre return to the Octagon this November, when the Canadian will face an incredibly stiff test in interim champion Carlos Condit.
This should be an epic fight between two great competitors. One the one hand, you have the always dangerous Condit. On the other, you have the consistently dominant GSP.
Here is a head-to-toe breakdown of their fight at UFC 154.

Travis “Hapa” Browne has been on a tear since his Octagon debut back at The Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale. Since then he has won all his bouts, with the exception of a draw against Cheick Kongo.
Hapa has looked better and better in each of his fights, and the UFC has acknowledged that by giving him an elite opponent in the main event of the coming FX card.
Browne faces a high-level opponent in Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva. But if Browne wins this bout convincingly, just how far is he from title contention and a possible shot at champion Junior dos Santos? And if he were to be granted a shot against JDS in the near future, does he possess a legitimate threat?
Yes and no.
At this point in time, I believe Browne isn’t quite ready for the power and skill the champion brings to the table. Don’t get me wrong, Browne has power and skill as well, but he needs more time to develop it.
If he defeats Silva in their main event bout, I would give him maybe one or two more fights against perennial heavyweight contenders. If he wins those fights, then I would give him a title shot, assuming JDS is still champion at that point.
Browne is a great fighter at the moment, and a win against Silva, plus some extra added time to hone his ever-improving skill set, will put him in an excellent position should the bout with JDS ever become a reality.
Browne is an extremely well-rounded fighter who moves well for a big man and also uses creativity and all the weapons he has at his ever-expanding disposal.
If he get’s his Brazilian jiu-jitsu and wrestling on par with his striking, and adds a few more big-name wins, Hapa will definitely be a big threat to the heavyweight champion.

Canada is known as a hockey mad country. Recently though, Canadian fans have taken a real liking to MMA as well. Knowing this, the UFC has a huge opportunity in front of them.
The UFC only has one more event scheduled for Canada this year. That event is UFC 154 in Montreal. That is sure to be a sellout, as it is the return of Georges St. Pierre in his home province of Quebec.
As of the time of this writing, the NHL is still locked out, and looks to remain that way for the foreseeable future.
With no hockey for the Canadian fans to watch, here is where the UFC comes in. For the coming year, the UFC needs to schedule more shows in Canadian markets.
Whether that be in already successful locations like Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver or Calgary, or in new Canadian locations, UFC brass needs to get on that immediately.
Canada’s fans are passionate about sports. At this point in time, they need a sport to rally behind that provides them with excitement and intrigue. A sport that really gets the blood pumping. MMA is clearly that sport.
It makes sense from the UFC’s perspective, too. Canadian fans will without a doubt sell out any card that is brought to them by Dana White and company.
They won’t need to put big names on the cards either, allowing the UFC to showcase some up-and-coming talent.
It’s basically a win-win situation. Fans in Canada will get more of a sport they absolutely love, while the UFC can expand into other Canadian markets, showcase their lesser known fighters and of course make some money, as well.
The UFC needs to take full advantage of the NHL lockout, because the benefits are just too good to pass up. Canada’s many fans need a sport to get behind where there is no threat of a lockout.
So please, in the new year, throw us a bone and schedule some more shows in Canada, will ya, White? I promise you won’t regret it.

Heavyweights are some of the most exciting fighters on the UFC roster. Names such as champion Junior dos Santos, Frank Mir, Cain Velasquez and Alistair Overeem are well known by all fans.
But here’s a name that if you don’t know right now, you will soon. Let me introduce you to Travis “Hapa” Browne.
Browne is a Greg Jackson-trained heavyweight with a perfect 13-0 record. He has four impressive wins inside the Octagon and a draw against Cheick Kongo.
“Hapa” has a wealth of highlights inside the UFC, including a wicked superman punch KO against Stefan Struve and a flying knee followed by an arm-triangle submission against Chad Griggs.
Travis Browne appears to be getting better with each passing fight. Despite being six feet seven inches tall, Browne is quick and moves extremely well. He utilizes his reach well, and his striking is on par and getting better.
He has also begin to show his developing submission game, most recently using it to tap out Chad Griggs at UFC 145.
After his latest win, Browne was awarded a big-name fight that could push him up the heavyweight ladder if he wins. He draws a main event assignment against Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva.
This is an intriguing match up, and if Browne can dispatch “Bigfoot”, he will definitely be vaulted up the heavyweight pecking order.
Browne has all the skills to become a heavyweight contender. If he strings together a few more impressive wins, Browne could garner some serious attention from high-level heavyweights.
Browne is a dark horse heavyweight poised to make some serious noise. Get behind him now because the best is yet to come.

Yves Jabouin has experienced a rebirth in a sense. He lost his UFC debut via flying triangle choke.
After that he decided a drop to bantamweight was a smart idea for his career—and hasn’t looked back since.
Jabouin is undefeated as a bantamweight going 3-0 against tough competition in Ian Loveland, Walel Watson and Jeff Houghland respectively.
Jabouin is a powerful and accurate striker, but some people have questioned if he has more tricks up his sleeve.
His striking is his greatest strength. He always throws a high volume of strikes and is extremely technical. But can his striking alone make him a serious bantamweight threat?
As good as his striking is, this is Mixed Martial Arts. To make it far you need to have a little bit of everything.
Jabouin‘s bread and butter is his striking game. He doesn’t have a wrestling base, and his take down defense is at times suspect. if there is one area above all the rest he needs to work on, it would be his submission defence.
Throughout his career he has lost three fights by submission—although one was because of elbows.
When Jabouin is dragged to the ground he has trouble.
When his opponents begin to start a grappling match with him, he has trouble defending the attempt and getting back to his feet.
Make no mistake I am a fan of the Haitain-Canadian.
Striking wise he could contend with any fighter in the bantamweight division. If his wrestling and submissions catch up with his striking, he will be an even bigger threat.
Jabouin needs to work on his wrestling and submissions for him to be considered a top flight bantamweight. He can’t be considered a true mixed martial arts threat until his other skills develop a bit more.
But when that day comes look out bantamweights, because Yves “Tiger” Jabouin will be waiting.

The injury bug decided to bite once again at UFC 153, and this time it ruined a super fight. Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar were set to battle for the featherweight title, when Aldo had to pull out of the bout due to injury.
MMA fans around the world were rightly upset that this fight was off the books. But out of the turmoil an unlikely saviour emerged to save the event.
UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva. But this announcement didn’t come without some confusion as fans found out his unlikely opponent. Silva would be moving up to 205 pounds to fight the always game Stephen “The American Psycho” Bonnar.
It’s hard to root against Bonnar, even if he is fighting Anderson Silva. Bonnar is a brawler, who seemingly never gives up. Out of all the fights that he’s lost, he’s never been submitted. The only way he has been stopped is a couple TKO’s due to cuts. That means he’s never been knocked out either.
Bonnar only has six losses in the UFC. Almost all of those are top talent fighters including Forrest Griffin, Rashad Evans and current champion Jon Jones. In every one of his fights, Bonnar has been competitive and willing to put on a show.
Fans have many reasons to cheer for Bonnar at UFC 153. Bonnar always aims to put on entertaining fights. He has a true brawling style, which bodes well for the fans. Bonnar has a well known name, especially from his first fight with Forrest Griffin, which will help the event attract some fans.
Last but not least Bonnar stepped up to face arguably the best fighter in the world right now.
If not for that act, who knows what would have happened to another UFC pay-per-view card without a main event? Bonnar did the UFC and the fans a great service by stepping up and taking this fight.
In my books that’s a solid reason to root for him. If you don’t root for him for any other reason, at least give him some props for helping to save this event.
