Tito Ortiz entered the sport of mixed martial arts in May of 1997 when he defeated Wes Albritton in his UFC debut at UFC 13.

After working his way up the light heavyweight ladder, Ortiz finally earned a winner-take-all title shot against Wanderlei Silva at UFC 25.

Ortiz won and went on to defend his title in five consecutive fights before meeting Randy Couture at UFC 44.

Couture was declared the new UFC light heavyweight champion via unanimous decision as Ortiz’s career appeared to be heading south.

But, Ortiz battled back defeating Vitor Belfort, Forrest Griffin and Ken Shamrock before receiving another title shot against Chuck Liddell at UFC 66.

Oritz fell once again, this time by knockout in the third round of action.

It appeared the “Huntington Beach Bad Boy” had lost his once spectacular skills, losing three consecutive fights after a draw with Rashad Evans at UFC 73.

But, after being off for nearly a year, Ortiz made his return at UFC 132 where he squared off with up-and-coming star, Ryan Bader.

This time it was Ortiz who shocked the world submitting Bader just two minutes into the fight.

For the first time in what seemed like years, the Tito Ortiz we once knew was back.

Or was he?

In attempts to prove to the world the real Tito was back, Ortiz took a fight on the very next card against Rashad Evans in Philadelphia, Pa.

Unfortunately, Ortiz proved to the world he isn’t who he once was as he was knocked out in a mediocre performance.

Now, Ortiz is set to square off with Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 140 in Toronto, Canada.

A loss to Nogueria will push Ortiz’s record in his last eight fights to 1-6-1.

Even with a win, it’s hard to picture Ortiz making any type of noise in the light heavyweight division as his days as an elite contender have come to pass.

Will UFC 140 be Tito Ortiz’s last stand?

Over the recent decade, there hasn’t been a more talked about fight than the possibility of seeing UFC Middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Welterweight champion, George St-Pierre square off inside the Octagon.

Silva and St-Pierre have dominated nearly every opponent that’s come there way, combining for 24 consecutive fights without a loss.

Of their combined 24 straight victories, Silva and St-Pierre have total 15 consecutive successful title defenses.

As the two mixed martial arts legends have dominated their competition over the years, UFC fans began to truly make known their desires to see the two meet in a super fight.

While the fight has yet to happen, Sportsnet.ca reported St-Pierre set conditions in order for the super fight to occur.

But, all the talks of the potential super fight between Silva and St-Pierre may quickly come to pass.

According to Sherdog radio, St-Pierre’s head trainer, Firas Zahabi stated St-Pierre is more likely to make the transition down to the Lightweight division rather than bumping up the 185 lb. weight class.

Zahabi told Sherdog radio,

“GSP could make 155”

“Georges is not a big welterweight, cutting to 170 is easy for him.”

If St-Pierre would in fact make the drop to 155 lbs., UFC fans can forever forget about a super fight between MMA‘s two greatest fighters.

St-Pierre’s interest in dropping to the Lightweight division leads fans to asking one question,

Is St-Pierre officially ducking Silva?

While St-Pierre isn’t one to run from a fight, speculations lead us to believe he may no longer be interested in squaring off with Silva.

With only four fights remaining in Silva’s career, and talks of a change in weight class for St-Pierre, the likelihood of seeing these two legends in the Octagon at the same time just went from slim to none.

So, the real question remains…

Is George St-Pierre ducking Anderson Silva?

The sport of mixed martial arts has clearly grown to be one of the world’s fastest growing sports for a reason.

That reason is mainly credited to the world-class athletes who dedicate their lives to the sport they deeply love.
