UFC 131 has officially kicked off on Facebook. To open up the evening, featherweights take to the Octagon as Michihiro Omigawa faced off against Darren Elkins.
After splitting the first two rounds, the third should determine the winner.
Here is the rundown for the third round:
Right out of the gate, Omigawa shot in and took Elkins down to the mat. Elkins went briefly for a guillotine choke, but gave it up quickly.
Working from Elkins’ guard, Omigawa landed some heavy punches to Elkins’ face, which caused the blood to flow even more from his battered face. Then after a scramble, they were standing again.
With two minutes left to go in the final round Elkins showed plenty of heart, but it was becoming very clear that Omigawa was the fresher of the two, on top of being the more technically sound striker.
As the round came to a close, Elkins tried his best to press the action, but Omigawa was just too good for Elkins tonight.
29-28 Omigawa
Official result: Darren Elkins def Michihiro Omigawa via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)
