UFC 158 is in the books, and after five rounds of action, Georges St-Pierre retained his title in front of his home crowd.

St-Pierre out-wrestled Nick Diaz to earn a unanimous decision victory.

Twitter was buzzing about this fight, but St-Pierre’s win may actually be overshadowed by Diaz‘s alleged retirement and the great show that Carlos Condit and Johny Hendricks put on.

Here are some of Twitter’s reactions to St-Pierre’s win:

MMA legend Bas Rutten shared his thoughts on St-Pierre’s eighth straight title defense.

Light heavyweight contender Dan Henderson praised St-Pierre’s wrestling and made another plea for Olympic wrestling.

Lightweight vet Yves Edwards also shared his thoughts on GSP‘s wrestling.

Bellator welterweight champ Ben Askren believes he has what it takes to defeat St-Pierre after watching the fight.

Bleacher Report’s Jeremy Botter already has his prediction in for St-Pierre vs. Hendricks.

Although St-Pierre did not show us anything new, he is still the champ and has a new challenge waiting for him in Johny Hendricks.

In the first welterweight fight on the main card of UFC 158, Jake Ellenberger welcomed Nate Marquardt back to the UFC

While Marquardt looked good at the start, he felt just how hard Ellenberger can hit as Ellenberger ended the fight with another first-round KO.

Ellenberger has now won his second straight fight and could be one away from a title shot.

What we’ll remember about this fight

We will remember just how powerful Ellenberger can be. Not that we forgot from his previous fights. But Ellenberger proved once again that he is one of the most dangerous fighters in the welterweight division.

What we learned about Ellenberger

Ellenberger is back on track after getting his title hopes derailed by Martin Kampmann. With the current state of the welterweight division, if Georges St-Pierre defeats Nick Diaz, Ellenberger will be one of the few welterweight contenders who have yet to face St-Pierre.

What we learned about Marquardt

Marquardt is not a bad fighter. He is a former Strikeforce champion and a former middleweight contender. Yet when it comes to big statement-making fights in the UFC, he just seems to come up short. Marquardt has been through a lot in his career, and if he is serious about making another title push, he will have to reassess his whole game.

What’s next for Ellenberger

Ellenberger may be a fight or two away from a title shot. Depending on how the rest of the night’s fights go, he could be facing Carlos Condit once again or the red-hot Demian Maia.

What’s next for Marquardt

Marquardt has now lost his second straight fight and could be out of the UFC once again with a third straight loss. Marquardt is still a big name just like Josh Koscheck, who has also lost two straight. They could meet in a loser-leaves-town match.

UFC 158: What We Learned From Antonio Carvalho vs. Darren Elkins

UFC 158 is live from the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

While much of the talk leading up to Saturday night has been about UFC welterweight champ Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz, fans will be talking about Darren Elkins and Antonio Carvalho for all the wrong reasons.

Although Elkins picked up a KO victory, it may be thanks to an early stoppage by referee Yves Lavigne.

What we’ll remember about this fight

Sadly, we will remember this fight for the early stoppage by Yves Lavigne. Before that, it was a pretty good back-and-forth fight with Elkins getting the better of the clinch game and Carvalho connecting with left hooks. With less than two minutes left in the first round, Elkins landed a hard right hand that rocked Carvalho. Elkins landed a few more shots that dropped Carvalho, but instead of giving Carvalho a chance to fight back, Lavigne stopped the fight.

What we learned from Carvalho

Despite getting caught and losing the fight, Carvalho looked all right in the fight. He showed good patience in picking his shots and defended the takedown well. Sadly for Carvalho, he was on the receiving end of a heavy-handed Elkins and a trigger-happy Yves Lavigne

What we learned from Elkins

Although he will take it, Elkins can thank Lavigne for part of his win. He had Carvalho hurt badly and was about to finish the fight on his own, but Lavigne stopped it. Despite the controversy, Elkins proved once again that he can take a shot and dish out punishment.

What’s next for Carvalho

With the loss, Carvalho is now 2-2 in the UFC. There are many great fights for him at featherweight, but one against Nam Phan could be an exciting one.

What’s next for Elkins

With this win, Elkins has won five straight fights in the UFC featherweight division. Although he may not be ready for the very best of the division just yet, he could be ready for a step up in competition. Experienced fighter Nik Lentz is coming off a victory against Diego Nunes and could be a good test for Elkins

UFC on Fuel 7: Which Fighter Has the Most to Gain?

UFC on Fuel 7 will be live from London, England tomorrow morning.

Featured in tomorrow’s main event will be two of the world’s best bantamweights as Renan Barao defends his interim UFC title against Michael McDonald.

Many fighters have plenty to gain with a win. Dustin Poirier and Cub Swanson could be fighting for a future featherweight title shot.

Other fighters like Che Mills and Jorge Santiago are fighting to prove that they belong in the UFC.

But the man with the most to gain will be Michael McDonald.

At just age 22, McDonald has already done more than many fighters will do their whole careers.

Currently he is on an eight-fight winning streak (15-1 overall). That includes knockout victories over former WEC champs Cole Escovedo and Miguel Torres.

McDonald would not only become a UFC champion with a win, he would become the youngest fighter to ever capture a UFC title.

Light heavyweight champ Jon Jones currently holds the record for youngest champion.

He was just a few months shy of 24 when he captured the light heavyweight title back in 2011.

What may make McDonald even more dangerous is his knockout power. He has four wins by submission, but is known more for his brutal KO’s.

Although he is only fighting for an interim title thanks to Dominic Cruz still being on the shelf, McDonald could actually be facing a tougher task in Barao

Barao comes into this bout on a 30-fight unbeaten streak. The only blemishes in his career are a loss in his debut and a no contest.

He’s a great all around fighter who has defeated some of the best in the division, including Urijah Faber

If McDonald can find a way to crack the Barao code, he will be the youngest fighter to gain a UFC title and just the second man to defeat Barao
