Of course, it’s well documented that Dana White’s said the hall of famer’s days fighting in the Octagon are done, but that hasn’t resulted in Chuck making it official. But then again, we’ve been through this once before…

Chuck appeared in a recent episode of the current season of TUF, and once again spoke of his desire to throw down with Tito Ortiz for a third time, feeding the ongoing speculation that the former champ has no real desire to retire (yes, even though the episode was filmed weeks ago). Now, while it’s completely understandable to say ‘what else is new’ right about it now, it does seem like this time Dana is sticking to his presidential guns. According to a report from MMA Weekly, here is some of what Mr. White had to say about this matter, while he was in England over the weekend.

“I don’t want Chuck to fight anymore,” White said. “Chuck’s one of my good friends, and I don’t want him to fight anymore.”… “Chuck’s been a warrior, he’s been a great champion, and a great friend and a great partner,” stated White. “I don’t want to see it anymore.”

Interesting; it is starting to seem like the Liddell era may soon be over officially, then again…we’ve been through this before. Of course Tito has his hands full this weekend with Matt Hamill, never mind a third fight with Chuck; to bet on the tilt head here.

Since Jose Aldo continued to drop jaws around the MMA world with another, ‘he’s just too good’ stoppage win over Manny Gamburyan last month, the internet has been littered with discussions as to what’s next for the P4P contender. While everyone in their right mind would like to see the WEC featherweight champ test the UFC lightweight waters, the argument that the WEC can’t really spare any of its top stars right now may have some merit. We’ll save the never ending ‘should the WEC just merge with the UFC’ debate for another time….

At any rate, if reports surfacing today are accurate, it looks as though the WEC may be putting together a bout between Aldo and Mark Hominick. According to a report from MMA Mania, the Brazilian publication Tatame recently posted this comment from Aldo:

“Whoever it may be, I always respect everybody. We may already have a title defense in January with Mark Hominick, a Canadian very good in kickboxing.”

Now, the early betting line on this one probably won’t give Hominick great odds to win, but if you’ve seen the Canadian fight you know that striking enthusiasts will be taking notes. Aldo is a walking, punching, kicking and kneeing highlight reel, while Hominick has some of the fastest hands in the sport. Bottom line, if Aldo is staying in the WEC for the time being, a bout with Hominick could be the way to go. We’d watch it.

All of Fedor Emelianenko’s glorious accomplishments aside (which includes providing many, many, effin entertaining moments), it seems like the words ‘future’ and ‘could be’ far too often accompany the heavyweight’s name. Basically (and we will assume 90% of MMA fans are included in this) we just want to see the dude fight and fight often, but once again, following his loss to Fabricio Werdum this past summer, months will go by before that happens.

So what’s the latest word on “The Last Emperor’s” seemingly endless contractual and or bout negotiations? Well, according to a report from MMA Junkie today, M-1 Global could be close to inking a new deal which would mean that Fedor would remain with Strikeforce for the foreseeable future. The ‘crown jewel’ of the agreement, if it happens, M-1 Global would see some of its cards broadcast on Showtime. See—no wonder the UFC and Fedor’s management never came to an agreement. M-1 Global President Vadim Finkelchtein was quoted saying in the story:

“We have an agreement in place, and that agreement has one more fight on it. If we have to operate under that agreement; that’s perfectly fine. But if we have the opportunity to make the relationship more long term, than certainly we’re open to that as well. So we feel fine about that in terms of Fedor’s career because we know at some point very soon, he’s going to have a fight.”

So, long story short, Fedor will fight “soon”, which based off previous negotiations, could mean what? 5-6 months from now? Won’t Werdum be back by then?

Mike Pyle Says John Hathaway Never Had a Chance

While some fans on this side “of the pond” bemoaned last night’s UFC 120 card saying it was weak, for British fans, who, let’s not forget were the ones, you know, actually paying to attend the London event, it featured several of their beloved stars. Michael Bisping and Dan Hardy are already two of the country’s biggest names, love em or hate em, while John Hathaway has been in hot pursuit (walking through Diego Sanchez certainly didn’t hurt).

Of course, while Bisping outscored Yoshihiro Akiyama for the UD win, the other two British studs didn’t fair too well. Hardy got KTFO by Carlos Condit, and Hathaway, well, the formerly undefeated welterweight ended up getting schooled by the veteran Mike Pyle big time. Hathaway was a heavy favorite to take out Pyle, and after hearing some of the Xtreme Couture fighter’s post fight comments, we’re thinking maybe that was bothering him just a wee little bit (comment via the official UFC site).

“Everything Hathaway’s good at I’m better and tonight I was able to prove that. I knew that coming into this fight my wrestling was better; I knew that my hands were better. I hurt him a few times in the fight; I had him hooked up in some things that nobody’s been hooked up in the UFC, beaten on in the UFC. From my shorts at the weigh-ins, to “Born in the USA” coming out, I just rubbed it in their face and on top of that I smashed their number one boy that they thought was unstoppable. He never had a chance tonight, not for one second.”

Wow. If you threw some money down on Pyle last night, enjoy.

At any rate, word has come from the UFC that light-heavyweight Steve Cantwell injured his knee this week during a pre-fight workout, and as a result, his bout with Stanislav Nedkov has been scrapped from the UFC 120 card. Wow. Any fighter will tell you that making it through training camp without getting injured is damn tricky, so to trash your knee the week of the fight? When the hardcore training is supposedly done? That sh-t’s rough.

Cantwell was looking to end a two fight losing streak after dropping back-to-back UD losses to Luis Cane and Brian Stann. Prior to that the WEC vet had busted the arm of Razak Al-Hassan, way back in December, 2008 (remember now?). This would have been Cantwell’s first bout in over a year.

Tough break for Cantwell but the show must go on. To bet on tomorrow’s bouts head here.

We here at Fix are the first to admit that we’re drawn to trash talking fighters like the masses are to ‘cute kitten’ Youtube clips. Look at the amount of coverage Chael “He Said That?” Sonnen received heading into his memorable bout with Anderson Silva, and clearly we’re not the only ones.

Of course, another of the UFC’s leading mouths in the trash talking department is Dan “The Outlaw” Hardy, who since arriving in the promotion, has captured plenty of headlines with both his words and fists. It’s a nice combination to have going for you in the sports business, and while speaking to the official UFC site, Hardy acknowledged his personality hasn’t held back his career.

“It’s been pretty wild, to be honest,” he said. “I didn’t think that it would be like this. I knew I always had a big mouth and I think that’s contributed to a lot of the attention I’ve been getting. (Laughs) But my main focus is always to work hard and to win fights and enjoy myself as I’m doing it, and I think that the fans appreciate that and I think that’s the reason why things have moved so fast for me. If you would have told me two years ago that I would be in this position now, I would have been quite surprised. But it’s awesome and I wouldn’t change it for the world.”
