The UFC on Fuel 4 card did not disappoint. There were more stoppages than decisions, highlighted by an early second-round knockout by Chris Weidman. An overwhelmed Mark Muñoz was on the receiving end of the vicious KO—a single blow that effectively erased his hopes of taking on champion Anderson Silva

Also on the card were a pair of heavy-hitting light heavyweights in James Te-Huna and Joey Beltran, as well as veteran Aaron Simpson making his debut at welterweight against youngster Kenny Robertson.

In all, 11 fights took place on Wednesday. While most delivered, a few fell short of expectations. I could analyze every fight on the card, but by now you’ve surely read through plenty of those types of articles. Instead, I’ll take a brief look at most of the fights on the card, providing quotes from the fighters involved and images of the best action.

Fresh off a middleweight title fight between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen at UFC 148, two more contenders at 185 lbs are set to do battle at UFC on Fuel 4 at HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA.

Mark Muñoz was set to take on Sonnen himself back in January, but was injured during training and was forced to pull out of the UFC on FOX event. Several other high octane bouts are set to take place leading up to the main event.

Immediately preceding the Munoz vs. Weidman fight will be a matchup of hard-hitting light heavyweights in James Te Huna and Joey Beltran. Over in the welterweight division, grizzled veteran Aaron Simpson will meet the young and talented Kenny Robertson.

The rest of the card is filled with interesting matchups that promise to entertain.

With all of the recent buzz surrounding Nick Diaz, fight fans have become enamored with the mixed martial arts veteran. From his rivalry with George St. Pierre to his premature retirement, there have been plenty of noteworthy storylines since “The Stockton Terror” returned to the UFC.

For longtime supporters of Diaz, these antics are nothing new. Since he broke into the sport over a decade ago, Nick has made as many headlines out of the cage as he has in it.

10 Worst Nicknames in UFC

UFC fighters aren’t required to take on nicknames, but the majority of competitors in the promotion take on an alias. And why not? At the very least, it boosts your pre-fight introduction, and for some warriors, it gives way to an entirely new persona.

Some of the greats nailed it with their nicknames to the point where you won’t ever hear their actual name without it. Ever heard of Chuck “The Iceman” Liddell? Case in point.

Among the current pool of UFC fighters, there are all kinds of epic nicknames. Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva represent for the season vets, while “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung and Stefan “Skyscraper” Struve hold it down for the next generation.

But for every nickname that sends chills down your spine, there’s one that makes you cringe. For different reasons, several fighters have taken on highly questionable titles, and I’m here to call them out.

Don’t agree with my rankings?  By all means, let me know by leaving your comments below.
