Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira and Stefan Struve seem to be on a UFC collision course.

Struve called for a fight against the legendary heavyweight, and Nogueira seemed open. However, according to Norueira’s manager, Ed Soares, “Minotauro” will be on the shelf for awhile following surgery.

Regardless, this fight seems like the next step for both men, and it is a logical fight. Both fighters are coming off losses so it makes a lot of sense for all parties involved, and it would be an entertaining heavyweight battle.

If fans wanted change in the division, they have it now. Weidman will usher in a new era at 185 pounds. New challengers will have to step up, and Weidman will have to begin to carry shows. It’s a new day at middleweight.

Also in action at UFC 162, Tim Kennedy defeated Roger Gracie and Mark Munoz made a triumphant return against Tim Boetsch.

Anderson Silva lost his middleweight crown at UFC 162, but the former champion isn’t done fighting.

In the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Silva stated that he intends to keep on fighting. However, he has no interest in a rematch with Chris Weidman. He is done fighting for the title. Or so he says.

With the pressure of being champion off his shoulders, the 38-year-old all-time great can focus on fighting who he wants. He can take the bouts that interest him, and he doesn’t have to train for 25-minute battles.

It is not time for Silva to relax. He can wind down his career in the manner he wants to without having to defend the championship. He can have fun. He has many options for his next fight. There are a plethora of interesting and entertaining opponents out there waiting for the challenge.
