UFC Fight Night 73 comes your way this weekend, and headlining the card will be two top-10 ranked light heavyweights.

No. 4-ranked contender Glover Teixeira meets the rising No. 6-ranked Ovince Saint Preux in the evening’s five-round contest. Nashville will play host to the event, and expect a large ovation for Saint Preux in front of a local crowd.

Teixeira has dropped his last two fights but remains in the top five of the shallow division. He lost his title bid to Jon Jones and followed that up with another decision loss to Phil Davis. On the opposing side of the cage, Saint Preux is coming off back-to-back wins against Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and Patrick Cummins.

Can Teixeira get back in the win column and steal Saint Preux’s momentum as they both try to inch closer to the title? Or will Saint Preux establish himself as a true contender at 205 pounds?

Let’s break down the matchup for this weekend’s fight card from head-to-toe.

UFC’s Patrick Cummins Proves You Can Win and Still Get Your Face Destroyed

Patrick Cummins had little trouble in his UFC 190 victory over Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante, but he certainly did not escape the contest unscathed.

On Monday afternoon, Joe Rogan posted a photo to Instagram of Cummins, and the light heavyweight athlete looks downright awful 48 hours after his win.

The photo is not for the faint at heart:

“This is what Pat Cummins @officialdurkin looks like 2 days after the biggest win of his @UFC career,” Rogan wrote in the accompanying caption. “The faint of heart need not apply. Pat is a f—–g true savage! Congrats!”

According to MMAjunkie.com, Cummins is on a potential six-month medical suspension by the Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA with a fractured nose following the event. He can get back in the cage as soon as he is cleared by a physician.

Cummins has a few stitches under his right eyebrow, and the blood in his eyes is still visible. Cavalcante did extraordinary damage for landing so few strikes. Over the course of 10 minutes, the Brazilian only landed 23 significant strikes to Cummins.

The American simply outwrestled and outworked Feijao. The former Strikeforce champion got extremely tired, and Cummins finished the fight with a flurry of ferocious elbows. Cummins looked worse for the wear, but he was in control nearly the entire fight.

The bout was even briefly halted to check on Cummins’ injuries to see if he could continue.

The damage to Cummins highlights that in MMA, judging purely by damage can be misleading. Feijao turned Cummins into a mess at UFC 190 while being planted firmly on his back time and again. But Cummins, a former Nittany Lion wrestler, landed eight takedowns in the fight.

Cummins will move back up the ranks at 205 pounds following his top-10 win at UFC 190. In the shallow waters of light heavyweight, he will undoubtedly inch closer to bigger fights as soon as he recovers from the tremendous damage he sustained against Feijao.

Aldo-McGregor, Rousey Eyed for Cowboys Stadium on December 5

Ronda Rousey will fight Miesha Tate for a third time, but there is no official date yet set for that fight. However, we all got a look into the UFC’s plans for its schedule at the post-fight press conference.

In response to a question regarding if Rousey-Tate could join Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor on a fight card, UFC President Dana White got a smirk across his face and confirmed that it would be a possibility. You could infer from that the UFC was already thinking of a massive pay-per-view with two of their hottest properties.

Rousey said in her post-fight interview that she wanted to be on the Aldo-McGregor fight card as well. The stars seemed aligned for just that to happen.

Aldo-McGregor were slated to square off at UFC 189, and the UFC put a lot of money into promoting that fight. Unfortunately, Aldo suffered a rib injury that forced him out of action. UFC 189 was still a massive success under McGregor‘s star power, but the title tilt only got more intriguing exiting the event.

UFC 190 was thought to be a step down after that hot PPV, but White says all the trends are pointing toward UFC 190 being bigger than UFC 189. Rousey‘s crossover appeal and mainstream star power puts her events on a broader scale. Celebrities are enamored with the bantamweight champion.

An Aldo-McGregor and Rousey PPV would do huge numbers for the UFC, and would be a can’t-miss event across the board. The Aldo-McGregor fight has captured nearly every combat sports fan’s imaginations. It transcends typical featherweight fights. With the addition of Rousey‘s mainstream appeal it could elevate that event to unforeseen heights.

Later in the press conference White said that Cowboys Stadium will be the likely landing spot for the event. Confirming that they are eyeing Aldo-McGregor and Rousey-Tate for the same PPV. The UFC has teased a stadium show at Cowboys Stadium before, but big fights are made for Las Vegas. Logistically, it would be hard to take that fight out of the “Fight Capital of the World.”

UFC 100 still holds the PPV record for the UFC with over 1.6 million buys, but a future PPV with Aldo-McGregor and Rousey would certainly challenge that number. It could bring the UFC to a new stratosphere.

White’s smirk when answering the question at the post-fight press conference gave a hint that it was the current plan, and later on he confirmed it. Those plans can always change due to scheduling conflicts and other issues that may arise.

Time will tell, but be prepared to shell out for this potentially massive double main event fight card in early December.

Dan Henderson and Vitor Belfort will run it back. The two MMA veterans will clash in November in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

UFC Fight Night 78 will be the event on November 7.

The two first met in PRIDE 32 in 2006. Henderson grabbed a unanimous decision victory over the fast and powerful striker. The victory helped elevate Henderson to a 205-pound title tilt that he would win over Wanderlei Silva.

A lot of time passed by before their rematch. They headlined UFC Fight Night 32 in 2013, and Belfort got his revenge. In just 77 seconds, Belfort blasted Henderson with a head kick that knocked him out.

Since that fight, Henderson is 2-2. After back-to-back losses to Daniel Cormier and Gegard Mousasi, there were questions as to whether Henderson still had anything left in the tank. He proved that he is not quite done with a knockout over Tim Boetsch in June.

Belfort waited more than a year for a title shot after beating Henderson, and it didn’t go well. Chris Weidman thumped him in under three minutes to retain the middleweight championship.

The big question surrounding the trilogy fight with Belfort-Henderson will be: At what weight does it happen? Both men are ranked at 185-pounds, but the two-division stars met at 205 in both of their previous meetings. As neither are not in immediate contention at either weight, they could fight in either division. There is no word on what division that is going to happen at.

The fight will headline the UFC Fight Night 78 event and be five rounds.

Bleacher Report will keep you up to date on all the news regarding this contest when we learn them.

Thirty-four seconds. The Queen of the UFC never ceases to amaze.

Ronda Rousey was intent on punishing opponent Bethe Correia, and she did just that. Rousey stood and exchanged with the Brazilian striker, took her best shot and then iced her. Correia lasted longer than Rousey‘s previous two opponents, but that wasn’t a tall hurdle to cross.

There was not a lot of action to break down in those 34 seconds. It was just Rousey coming forward and looking to land on Correia‘s face.

The reigning champion stated in the post-fight interview that she hopes no one ever brings up her family in trash talk ever again, and if they are smart, they won’t. Rousey showcased her knockout power at UFC 190.

This kind of KO is rare in women’s MMA, but Rousey‘s handspeed and torque from her core allow her to generate incredible power. Ask Correia or Alexis Davis. In both fights, Rousey did extraordinary damage with basic shots. She continues to evolve her game, and she becomes more terrifying in each outing.

Rousey is a rare talent. She doesn’t just beat her opponents; she embarrasses them.

That is exactly what she planned to do to Correia, and that is what she did. Correia fell to the canvas in comical fashion. It will be a scene thrown on highlight videos for years to come, ensuring that she will have to continually relive that moment.

Up next for Rousey will be the third fight with Miesha Tate. Tate has lasted longer than any other fighter against Rousey, and she is beginning to add more power to her punches. However, after UFC 190, perhaps that, too, is a bad plan of attack. We will see that fight next, but no date or venue is set.

Until then, enjoy the spectacle of Ronda Rousey‘s dominance.
