UFC president Dana White on Monday confirmed the bout and tickets for the event at the Phillips Arena will go on sale Feb. 17.
Evans won the light heavyweight title shot by beating Phil Davis two weeks ago at UFC on FOX 2, setting up the much-delayed meeting with his rival, the UFC champion Jones. Jones will be returning from a brief vacation after defeating Lyoto Machida at UFC 140 in December.
On Monday, Jones’ coach Greg Jackson said he was still unsure if he would corner Jones against Evans due to Jackson’s personal connection with Evans. Evans made his rise in MMA through Jackson’s gym, but eventually left when it became clear he and Jones would inevitably meet inside the UFC cage.

Nick Diaz earned a reported salary of $200,000 for his fight against Carlos Condit at UFC 143 this past Saturday in Las Vegas, according to the Nevada athletic commission.
Condit, who defeated Diaz for the UFC interim welterweight title, on paper made $55,000 as his show purse and a $55,000 bonus for the win.
Please note that salaries reported by the UFC to the commission do not necessarily reflect a fighter’s actual earnings, once other possible bonuses (such as a cut of the pay-per-view for big stars) and sponsorship money is factored in.

Each award winner took home an extra $65,000 in addition to their respective fight purse.
In the heavyweight featured bout declared by the UFC as the Fight of the Night, the two-time ADCC grappling champion Werdum displayed improved standup, battering TUF 10 winner Nelson through three rounds for the unanimous decision on scores of 30-27 across the board. Werdum bloodied Nelson’s face most notably with a barrage of knees from the Muay Thai clinch.
Werdum, who was making his UFC return, has now won four of his last five fights.
Poirier’s mounted triangle-armbar beat out Ed Herman’s rear-naked choke for Submission of the Night. Poirier slapped on an armbar off his back, transitioned to a triangle choke and then held the hold in mount position. From there, Poirier straightened Max Holloway’s arm for the tap out at three minutes and 23 seconds of the first round. Herman was the only other fighter on the card with a submission victory.
With a perfect 56-0 kickboxing background, there was quite a bit of hype for Thompson as he headed towards his UFC debut against Dan Stittgen. Thompson lived up to the hype with a karate-style head kick knockout at four minutes and 13 seconds.
According to the UFC, 10,040 attended the event at the Mandalay Bay Events Center for a gate of $2.3 million.

Former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Renato “Babalu” Sobral will meet K-1 veteran Melvin Manhoef in the main event of One FC 3 on March 31 in Singapore, promoters announced Tuesday in a press conference.
Sobral inked an exclusive deal a month ago with One FC after missing the entire 2011 due to a shoulder injury and time off for his family. Sobral was last seen in action in a first-round KO loss to Dan Henderson at Strikeforce in St. Louis in December 2010.
Manhoef, who has lost his last three MMA fights in the first round, fought over the weekend in a losing effort
under kickboxing rules against Tyrone Spong at “It’s Showtime” in Amsterdam.
Also announced for One FC’s first partnership event with DREAM is a co-main event with leglock expert Masakazu Imanari taking on undefeated Filipino prospect Kevin Belingon.
Imanari competed six times in 2011, five of which as part of the two DREAM bantamweight tournaments. Imanari fell short in the Japan tournament final against Hideo Tokoro by decision. On New Year’s Eve, Imanari lost in the world tournament semifinals to Antonio Banuelos by split decision. Belingon is a 24-year-old who made his name fighting for the URCC and Legend FC promotion, in the Philippines and Hong Kong, respectively.
Singapore’s first professional female MMA fighter Nicole Chua will also compete at One FC 3 at
the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
During the press conference, One FC announced its intention to make Singapore the Asian headquarters for MMA. One FC recently announced a 10-year deal with ESPN STAR and on Tuesday added 17 more gyms to its One FC network of fight camps.
CHICAGO — For colorful personalities such as Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping, trash-talk between the two middleweights has been uncharacteristically almost non-existent.
On Saturday at UFC on FOX 2, their hard-fought, three-round decision only reinforced their mutual respect. In fact, Sonnen thinks even more highly of Bisping now than ever.
“I can assure you — Having fought [Bisping] and the alleged champion, he could win the title today if they gave him the opportunity,” Sonnen said at the press conference.
With Sonnen, it’s difficult to tell if he honestly believes that or if it’s another opportunity to take a shot at Silva. Because despite winning his No. 1 contender bout by unanimous decision, Sonnen still maintains he’s unsure if a championship bout with Silva will happen. According to Sonnen, it’s up to Silva to sign on the dotted line.
“Do I think he’ll sign to fight? No, I don’t,” Sonnen said. “We’ll see. I’ve been wrong before.”
Sonnen curiously made no mention of Silva in his post-fight interview with announcer Joe Rogan. Rather than aggressively call out Silva like he did in his previous win over Brian Stann, could this be Sonnen’s passive-aggressive approach to making the fight happen?
“I can tell you this — I have never backed down and I never will,” he continued. “If he wants to fight and is willing to, I will do my part. But this isn’t my goal to help lure him out. I talk like this not to talk about Anderson. I rather talk about real men like Mr. Bisping who steps in on 10 days notice and fights me. Those are the kind of guys I want to give media attention to. Not some bum hiding in Brazil.”
If Silva-Sonnen 2 happens, it will likely take place this summer in Brazil. For all the shots that Sonnen have fired against Silva and Brazilians in general, there are some concerns of Sonnen’s safety in that country. Sonnen, though, doesn’t seem to be worried.
“If those blow-hards (in Brazil) with their blow darts, want to come for me, they can send anyone they want,” Sonnen said. “But don’t send anyone they want back.”
