How did everybody know this would end by KO in round two?!
Anderson Silva (31-4) easily handled Yushin Okami (26-6), and just continued to prove that he is the pound for pound greatest fighter on the planet.
The two had an intense staredown and no glove touch was offered from either fighter.
The Brazilian came out for Round 1 in typical Anderson Silva fashion, where he threw almost nothing and just looked to get Okami’s timing.
Toward the end of the first round, Silva hit Okami with a left high kick that rocked him, but Okami was saved by the bell.
Silva looked ready to go as Round 2 started. He pushed the pace and opened up right away.
Silva then began dropping his hands, daring Okami to hit him. As he was doing that, he was able to throw a straight right hand and drop Okami.
He let him up right away, not looking to finish.
After that, the exact same thing happened, but Silva went to finish this time and was able to end the fight at 2:04 of Round 2.
I don’t think it can really be argued about who the No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter is anymore. Anderson Silva is on a 15-fight win streak, 14 in the UFC, he’s defended his title nine times in a row and he’s demolished everyone in his path.
What could possibly be next for the greatest fighter of all time?

UPDATE: Anderson Silva will not headline the UFC on Fox card.
Lately, rumors have been running rampant that if Anderson Silva is to defeat Yushin Okami on Saturday, he will be booked for the main event of the UFC’s debut on Fox, where he will battle Dan Henderson for the UFC Middleweight Championship.
These rumors were fueled further when UFC CEO Lorenzo Fertitta confirmed that the UFC would be interested in having Silva headline the card on Fox.
Henderson is the Strikeforce light heavyweight champion, and in a recent conversation with mmafighting.com, Henderson’s manager, Aaron Crecy, said that the only fight Dan would be interested in at middleweight is a rematch with Anderson Silva, so it looks as though these rumors will continue to grow.
He also said though that there is nothing official, and that “Nothing is signed.”
He went on to say that preliminary talks had just begun a few days ago, and that Henderson hadn’t thought much about where he would fight next.
On the subject of Henderson returning to the UFC, Crecy said “He’s open to going back…”
Crecy also said that “At this point of his career, he just wants to have good, big fights.”
There’s only a few fights out there that would be bigger than a champion vs. champion rematch.
The first fight between Silva and Henderson took place at UFC 82, when Silva submitted Henderson in the second round to unify the UFC and Pride middleweight titles.
Stay tuned for more updates on this potential headliner.

On Saturday, August 27, the UFC makes it’s long awaited return to the birthplace of MMA, Brazil!
And on that Saturday night, there will be 12 fights, all which are sure to be outstanding, and will entertain the 30-40 million people who will be watching.
The main event of the evening has UFC Middleweight Champion, Anderson Silva, looking to defend his title against the last man to defeat him, Yushin Okami.
The co-main event has a light heavyweight battle between former champions Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, and Ultimate Fighter 1 winner, Forrest Griffin.
The rest of the main card has Antonio “Minotauro” Nogueira facing off against Ultimate Fighter 10 runner up, Brendan “The Hybrid” Schaub. Then a lightweight battle between Ross Pearson and Edson Barboza, and a light heavyweight matchup with Luiz Cane taking on Stanislav Nedkov.
Of course there are some fighters who could potentially be fighting for a job. Read on to find out who they may be.

On August 18, the UFC announced arguably the biggest news in it’s 18-year history: The UFC and Fox made a deal to put UFC on network television.
It was also announced that the first card on Fox would be on November 12 in Anaheim.
Immediately after that announcement, people began to speculate on who would fight on the card and even more about who would headline the card.
Recently, UFC president Dana White talked about the deal, the card, and who may fight on it.
On the subject of the deal with Fox, and whether or not MMA was mainstream, White said: “We’re not mainstream yet…Now’s the time to dig in and work. If we pull this thing off, we will be mainstream.”
“This thing,” of course, being the November 12 card.
White also said that who headlines the Fox card would depend on what happens this Saturday in Rio at UFC 134.
After saying that, White was asked if that meant that UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva would headline the card, to which he answered: “I’m not saying that… Let me get through these fights.”
With this being the first card that the UFC has put on network television, they are going to have many first-time viewers of mixed martial arts.
On that subject White talked about educating the new fan:
We live in a bubble in our [UFC Las Vegas] offices and take it for granted people know what armbars, guillotines, and triangle chokes are—nobody knows what this [stuff] means. We have to view [Fox programming] as if nobody knows anything about this sport, that people die in this cage…We’re going to educate the masses, treat it like nobody knows who we are. I think our [hardcore] audience understands that’s necessary.
The UFC still has work to do to be mainstream, but with this card on Fox, and if they pull it off and educate the masses, the UFC will continue to grow bigger, better, and stronger.
As far as the card on Fox, rumors have been running rampant that if Anderson Silva is to defeat Yushin Okami on Saturday, Silva would headline the card opposite Strikeforce light-heavyweight champion Dan Henderson for the middleweight title.
If they are unable to come to terms with Hendo, then Chael Sonnen will be pulled from a UFC 136 match with Brian Stann, and Stann will take on Vitor Belfort.
It’s very confusing, but in the end, it could give us some better matchups than what is already scheduled.

The UFC has been in existence for nearly 18 years, and there have been many legends who have entered the ultimate proving ground for fighters: the Octagon.
There are currently seven fighters in the UFC Hall of Fame—Royce Gracie, Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn, Randy Couture, Mark Coleman, Chuck Liddell and Matt Hughes—and an eighth is likely to be inducted at the next UFC fan expo.
Those seven fighters are some of the most iconic fighters in the history of the UFC, but who are the most iconic fighters of all time in every weight class?

This Saturday, the UFC goes back to Brazil for the first time in nearly 13 years!
Headlining the card is a middleweight championship fight, featuring the rematch between Anderson “The Spider” Silva (30-4) and Yushin “Thunder” Okami (26-5). The first fight ended when Silva hit Okami with an illegal kick, which rendered Okami unconscious and unable to continue.
The co-main event of the evening has Mauricio “Shogun” Rua (19-5) facing off against Forrest Griffin (18-6) in a rematch of their fight from UFC 76, which Griffin won via third-round submission.
Before that fight is a legend versus prospect fight, with Antonio “Minotauro” Nogueira (32-6-1 [1 NC]) making his return to the Octagon against the surging Brendan “The Hybrid” Schaub (8-1).
Filling out the main card is lightweight prospect Edson Barboza (8-0) taking on The Ultimate Fighter 9 winner, Ross “The Real Deal” Pearson (12-4) and a light heavyweight fight featuring Luiz “Banha” Cane (11-3 [1 NC]) taking on UFC newcomer, Stanislav Nedkov (11-0).
That’s all just on the main card!
There are 12 fights on the card in total, so read on to get breakdowns for every card in the UFC’s return to Brazil.
