On October 1, the UFC goes to Washington DC for the first time!
The card is set to be headlined by a bantamweight title fight, featuring Dominick Cruz (18-1) defending the title against Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson (10-1).
The co-main event features 6’11”, Stefan “The Skyscraper” Struve taking on 5’11”, Pat “HD” Barry.
This fight pits the tallest heavyweight against the shortest, in what is sure to be an explosive fight, between two outstanding kickboxers.
Struve comes in off a devastating knockout loss to Travis Browne at UFC 130, while Barry comes in off an even more devastating loss to Cheick Kongo, in what many call the greatest comeback in MMA history.
Both of these two are going to be looking for a win, and looking for a big statement at that. Expect a knockout one way or the other.
I wonder how easy it would be for Struve to knee Barry in the head…
The main card was just finalized today, and it looks like this.

Maybe Barry will try to pull out the flying clothesline.

Last night was possibly the best PPV of the year so far.
Carlos Condit showed he belongs at the top of the division.
Tito Ortiz showed he’s got a bit of gas left in the tank.
It was shown yet again that MMA judging needs improvement.
Chris Leben ended the career of a legend.
Dominick Cruz avenged his only career loss and put on a hell of a fight with Urjiah Faber in the process.
Aside from all that though, there were two major lightweight fights that took place, with Dennis Siver taking on Matt Wiman, and Melvin Guillard taking on Shane Roller.
Siver won a controversial decision, but Guillard left no doubt about his win, by leaving Roller unconscious on the mat.
Read on to see how this mixed up the lightweight ranks.

What a dud of a main event. Alistair Overeem wanted nothing to do with the ground game of Fabricio Werdum, and Werdum wanted no part in striking with The Reem.
This led to a very repetitive main event. Striking momentarily, Werdum shoots, Reem shrugs him off, Werdum pleads for Alistair to come down, and repeat.
In the co-main event, Josh Barnett exposed Brett Rogers by taking him down and submitting him with an arm triangle choke in the second round.
All in all, a less than impressive night of fights.
Notwithstanding, two of the top 25 pound-for-pound fighters were in action with Werdum and Alistair.
So, did Werdum fall off the list? How much did Alistair move up?
