Ed O’Neill recently addressed a class at the Gracie Academy recalling his first interaction with Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and how he became enamored with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu 17 years ago.

The story is very funny, especially when he recounts how Rorian Gracie asked O’Neill if he thought he could hold him down for a mere three seconds. O’Neill was confident that he could keep Gracie down for such a short time, considering he outweighed him by a fairly significant amount. O’Neill failed in his attempt to keep Gracie on his back.

O’Neill then tells the class that he immediately made up his mind to learn BJJ,  signing up for classes the next week.

O’Neill eventually earned his black belt after 16 years of training, joking “16 years, this must come naturally to me.”

TUF 14: Jason "Mayhem" Miller Calls Michael Bisping "Most Hated Man in America"

The news that Michael Bisping and Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller would be the coaches of season 14 of The Ultimate Fighter broke late last month and by now almost everyone in the MMA community has offered their opinion on the two coaches.

The Las Vegas Review Journal announced that the UFC will not waste any time jumping into the season as production on the show will begin this week, just days after the finale for season 13 took place.

Along with the announcement that production will begin, comes the first volley of trash talk from Miller.

“I feel great getting the TUF spot,” Miller told Heavy.com. “It’s a little early to start the smack talk but I’m going to beat the bangers and mash out of Bisping after my team smashes his team.

“Now that Osama is dead, Bisping is the most hated man in America. Everybody hates that guy. I wonder what it’s like to actually be hated that much.”

Accordog to MMAJunkie.com, Miller and Bisping will meet on Dec. 3 on the finale card for season 14 of TUF.

Many have opined that Miller earned the coaching slot on the show, not through his MMA skill set or his ranking in the middleweight division, but through his personality and his ability to bring in ratings via his personality as well as his not-always-gentle trash talk.

Two of the people who share that opinion are Chael Sonnen and Bisping himself.

Sonnen offered the following on twitter in regard to Miller’s coaching stint:

“Comment on Mayhem how? In terms of his coaching contract, or generally not being worth the gas that brings his $.50 hair dye from China?

“I buy a couple on ‘The Bachelor’ before I buy Miller as a Coach. Ten bucks says that he brings Bisping a rose on the season finale.”

While Bisping had the following to say about Miller, “I’ve had the dubious pleasure of meeting him,” Bisping told ESPN. “He’s not a bad character, but I’m sure six weeks around the guy is going to be a pain in the backside.”

Whether Miller deserves the position as coach of TUF or not is irrelevant at this point, the job is his and he plans on keeping things interesting,

“I’m going to make an entertaining show for the fans because that’s what I’m all about,” Miller told Heavy.com. “It’s not enough to just to go out there and fight; you have to fight and then put on the biggest show.

“Now I’m on the greatest show on earth, so I’m going to keep this circus rolling.”
