It’s been two weeks since UFC middleweight fighter Alessio “Legionarius” Sakara (8-1) was forced to pull out of his UFC 122 bout with Jorge Rivera due to illness. Sakara has come out to explain why the fight was pulled and what exactly happened.

“There are many people who think I had a problem with the weigh-in and felt bad on Saturday, but this is not true…In fact…Tuesday morning to Thursday night I was already starting to feel bad. I thought that it was my body dehydrating so I just thought it was normal. Then Thursday night I woke with a strong fever…finally I could not sleep because the fever would not pass…They think I contracted something from tuna fish … which led to a bad stomach virus. The toxin levels are still high, and I am recovering now. So I am just waiting for February to come, at the latest March for my next match.”
