According to BJPenn.com, former Strikeforce heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem is rumored to sign a deal with the UFC, exclusively.

Overeem recently withdrew from the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix due to injuries and was released by the promotion shortly after. The “Demolition Man” has held multiple titles in multiple promotions including Strikeforce and K-1.

Should the Dutchman sign with the UFC, it is expected he will make his debut at UFC 140.

The idea of adding Overeem to the UFC roster only bolsters the heavyweight division and includes another marquee name to attract fans. The size, skill and power of Overeem is certainly a sight to behold and adds intrigue to a potential bout with fellow giant, Brock Lesnar

Although these are only rumors, anything can happen in the UFC, and if the promotion is able to acquire Overeem then it’s a win-win situation.
