While promoting his fight against Urijah Hall at UFC 198 in Curitiba, Brazil this week, UFC legend and former middleweight champion Anderson Silva commented on the legal issues that friend and fellow former UFC champion Jon Jones is currently going through.

“I’m upset because he’s a young kid who has some insecurity, but he’s a good kid,” Silva said during a media scrum in Brazil to promote the sold out UFC 198 event. “I think the UFC should have some training for these young talents they have, those potential new champions, the UFC should train them so they can deal with this thing of victories, money, fame. They should do this. Like some soccer teams do today.”

Silva claims he didn’t see the police body-cam footage, which caught the heated interaction between “Bones” Jones and the officer who stopped him for alleged drag racing earlier this week. Instead, Silva said he found out about the news from his son Kalyl, who he notes is a big Jon Jones fan.

“I was really upset,” Silva said. “My son Kalyl, a big fan of his, was the one to give me the news. He’s a huge fan. He cries and everything when he watches him fight. I was upset for my son. My son is a fan, and (Jones) has many other fans. It’s tough because he’s a big friend and a big idol, and I’m sorry that that’s happening with him again.”

“The Spider” returns to the Octagon at UFC 198 on May 14, 2016 from Curitiba, Brazil, as he takes on former Ultimate Fighter finalist and middleweight contender Urijah Hall.
