On Thursday evening, reports started making the rounds on the internet regarding a very interesting possibility for Daniel Cormier’s replacement opponent at Saturday’s UFC 200 pay-per-view event.

As noted, UFC President Dana White announced during his appearance on “The Herd” on FS1 earlier today that current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier will still be fighting at the landmark PPV event this weekend, just not in a title fight in the main event.

With Brock Lesnar vs. Mark Hunt officially filling the open spot left in the main event when Jon Jones was forced off the card due to being flagged by USADA for a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation this week, Cormier is still waiting to find out who will be standing across the Octagon from him on Saturday night.

Reports started making the rounds on the internet and on social media regarding the possibility of Anderson Silva taking the fight against Cormier on extremely short notice for UFC 200 after an initial article surfaced on Brazilian media outlet Globo, however it wasn’t much later that UFC President Dana White nipped it in the bud.

White quickly addressed the rumors regarding “The Spider” possibly replacing Jones against Cormier, as he told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto quite simply, “Globo is wrong.”

As of this writing, no official announcement has been made regarding a new opponent for Daniel Cormier for UFC 200.
