In what will be his first fight since March 2014, Carlos Condit returns to the Octagon opposite Thiago Alves on May 30 at UFC Fight Night 67.
Steven Marrocco, an MMAjunkie writer, reported the bout via Twitter on Saturday:
Just heard Alves vs Condit targeted for May 30, UFC Fight Night 67…

Condit‘s most recent bout came 14 months ago against Tyron Woodley at UFC 171. During the second round of that contest, Condit tore his ACL and was not able to continue competing. The former interim champion has been recovering since then and will finally make his way back to the cage in May.
Meanwhile, Alves is just getting back into competing regularly following his own injury problems. Following a March 2012 loss to Martin Kampmann, the Brazilian went more than two years without stepping into the Octagon. He has since beaten Seth Baczynski and Jordan Mein, though, and appears to have regained his old form.
A fighter who has excellent footwork, Condit will be hoping to rebound exactly like Alves has. The Natural Born Killer has been among the best welterweights in the world for quite some time, so it will be interesting to see if he can maintain that status now that he is returning from an injury on the other side of 30 years old.
Should both men enter the Octagon in top form, this is a bout that deserves its spot atop the UFC Fight Night 67 card. Condit and Alves are both skilled strikers with finishing ability, so it’s hard to imagine this matchup being anything other than entertaining.
While a venue has not been announced for UFC Fight Night 67, it now has a solid headliner. No other bouts have been booked for the card, but it can be expected that more matchups will be revealed shortly.
