The line between the UFC and WWE is becoming even more blurry these days. With word breaking on Saturday that former UFC heavyweight champion and current WWE professional wrestler Brock Lesnar will make his return to the Octagon at UFC 200, rumors are now swirling that the UFC may end up returning the favor.

According to Corey Jacobs at WrestlingNews.co, the WWE is currently in talks with a number of women on the UFC roster, most notably strawweight contender and Dancing with the Stars runner-up Paige VanZant, to be a part of August’s SummerSlam event. Unfortunately, their report does not specifically name any other fighters.

SummerSlam is one of the WWE‘s oldest and most storied events, and it consistently ranks among the biggest shows on the WWE calendar alongside the Royal Rumble, Survivor Series and WrestleMania. In SummerSlam 2015, the WWE made a point of inserting celebrity guests into the broadcast, which saw Arrow star Stephen Amell compete in a tag team match and former The Daily Show host Jon Stewart attack John Cena during his match with Seth Rollins.

It’s easy to assume that the WWE is looking to do something similar this year, though it’s impossible to guess at this point what sort of role the WWE has in mind for any guest fighters.

Of course, it’s no certainty that VanZant would be able to make an on-screen appearance for the WWE. In addition to the fact that the UFC could bar her from taking part in the show, it is not known when she may return to action. If she is booked for a fight around that time (specifically at UFC 202, which is set to take place on August 20, the day before SummerSlam), her schedule simply wouldn’t line up with the WWE‘s.

Obviously, details will come out as SummerSlam draws closer. Feel free to start guessing what the WWE has planned, though!
