UFC President Dana White stoked the flames of a potential Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather rematch.
When asked by TMZ Sports whether a rematch between McGregor and Mayweather or McGregor and Nate Diaz was more likely, White said “as of right now” the former.
It’s worth noting White was posed the question after he was asked about Diaz’s desire to return to fighting. He previously told TMZ on Thursday UFC wasn’t in active negotiations with Mayweather about any deal.
Mayweather and McGregor have been teasing a potential rematch fought under mixed martial arts rules, including this Twitter post from Mayweather last month:
McGregor hasn’t fought in UFC since November 2016 when he defeated Eddie Alvarez to win the lightweight title. He split two matches against Diaz, winning their most recent bout at UFC 202 in August 2016.
Mayweather defeated McGregor in a boxing match via 10th-round TKO last August to improve his record to 50-0.
