MMA H.E.A.T.’s Karyn Bryant talks via Skype with middleweight Demian Maia, days before his UFC on FOX fight against Chris Weidman. Demian, who was originally scheduled to fight Michael Bisping, talks about fighting the up-and-coming American instead of the top ten-ranked Briton and why it was so important for him to stay on the UFC on FOX fight card. He also lets us know how confident he is in his Jiu Jitsu vs Weidman’s, why he admires his opponent’s abilities and whether or not he thinks Bisping is a bad guy. When the discussion turns to the UFC middleweight division, Demian lets us know if he thinks Chael Sonnen could beat champ Anderson Silva and how he feels about his own loss to Silva in 2010. On a lighter note, Demian admits to his love of junk food and the joys of having a daughter- who incidentally is celebrating her first birthday that day.
