Eddie Alvarez missed a deadline to accept a title defense vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 205, according to a report by “UFC Tonight” Wednesday evening.
The two are now targeted for UFC 206 from Toronto later this year.
News of the planned fight comes on the heels of multiple reports that Alvarez and Conor McGregor were to headline UFC 205 in November from Madison Square Garden. Both fighters, along with Nurmagomedov, posted about the planned fights on social media in recent days.
Alvarez won the title with a first round finish of Rafael dos Anjos, becoming the first man to hold gold in both the UFC and Bellator.
