Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz’s highly-anticipated clash at UFC 244 didn’t end in the most thrilling fashion.

After a great buildup, and a great three rounds of action between the pair, the cageside physician opted to stop the fight due to the cuts surrounding Diaz’s eye. Fans were enraged with the decision, with some believing the cuts weren’t bad enough to warrant stopping the fight. As soon as the event came to a close, many called to see the rematch, including both Masvidal and Diaz themselves. Masvidal stated he thinks the rematch will happen, even if not immediately, he and the younger Diaz brother will run things back eventually.

Speaking to LowKickMMA, American Top Team (ATT) owner Dan Lambert expressed the same opinion. When asked about Diaz’s post-fight Instagram post, suggesting Masvidal, at one point, wanted out of the fight, Lambert denied any assumptions that the post was Diaz being disrespectful, but rather, venting his frustrations after feeling he was cheated out of the last two rounds of the fight.

“Man, I have a hard time calling Nate Diaz disrespectful,” Lambert said. “Nate Diaz is just Nate Diaz. He’s just his own character and that’s probably just the way he is in every aspect of his life. I think he felt cheated by not being able to come out for the next round. Like I said, I thought it was actually Jorge who got cheated out of being able to finish the fight.

“But at the end of the fight it sure sounded like fans wanted to see a rematch. If that paid the most money to Jorge over a title fight, or maybe a fight with Conor, I’m sure Jorge would be happy to do it. I’d probably be surprised if those two didn’t fight again at some point in the future. Maybe not next, but I’d be surprised if those guys did not fight again.”

Now, however, Masvidal seems to have rubbed older Diaz brother, Nick, the wrong way. There has been a lot of hype surrounding a potential fight between the pair next, as Nick looks to avenge his younger brother’s defeat. Regardless of what’s next for Masvidal, however, one thing is for certain – he’ll flock to whatever fight presents him with the biggest paycheck.

Do you think Masvidal and Diaz will rematch down the road?
