In the aftermath of a Thanksgiving fire that destroyed the home of recently retired UFC veteran Dennis Hallman, friends of the fighter established an online fund-raising effort to help Hallman and his family get back on their feet.

Hallman tweeted the link early Saturday morning.

Early Thursday morning, Hallman, 36, and his three sons returned to their home in Washington state to find it engulfed in flames. The fire destroyed the home and all the possessions within. According to the fundraiser page, “all they have are the clothes on their back.”

The UFC released Hallman (51-14-2-1) in early October after he had issues making weight. Hallman attributed his loss of focus and subsequent weight-cutting problems to an undisclosed personal matter.

It would seem to have been a rough stretch for the former fighter, a submissions specialist who has competed at lightweight, middleweight and welterweight and has wins over Matt Hughes and Karo Parisyan, among others.

The fundraiser was set up by Benji Radach, himself a UFC veteran and longtime friend and training partner of Hallman.
