Joe Rogan won’t be at UFC 134, but featherweight contender Kenny Florian will be stepping in as color commentator alongside Mike Goldberg for the UFC’s first return to Brazil in nearly 13 years. The last time they were there was in 1998.
Rogan mentioned the reason why via his twitter:
@OccasionalOther: @joerogan how come you wont be at rio?” I have to film fear factor that week
It’s not the first time he has missed an event. Other times he has missed include the UFC’s first event in Canada at UFC 83, Ultimate Fight Night 19 and the Ultimate Fighter 11 Finale. Florian stepped in each time as commentator. He has also done work as commentator in the WEC.
Florian confirmed himself as a replacement on twitter:
Excited to announce that I’ll be going to Rio this month for #ufc134 to do commentary. Rio is one of my favorite cities in the world.
The card, which takes place at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, will feature two rematches including UFC Middleweight Champion Anderson Silva vs. Yushin Okami and Mauricio “Shogun” Rua vs. Forrest Griffin.
Okami and Griffin both won their first fights, but it’s they who are coming in as the underdogs this time around.
Other fights on the main card include Brendan Schaub vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, Ross Pearson vs. Edson Barboza and Luiz Cane vs. Stanislav Nedkov.
