First Georges St-Pierre and now UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos.

According to Portal do Vale Tudo, JDS will be undergoing surgery on that knee and will not be allowed to train until at least 20 to 30 days after surgery. JDS is undergoing the surgery today in Brazil.

Here is a picture of JDS in the hospital getting prepped for surgery:

Later this month on New Year’s Eve, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar faces former Dream and K-1 kickboxing champion Alistair Overeem for the right to face JDS for the heavyweight title.

With this injury, it might be a little bit longer before Lesnar or Overeem get their shot at JDS.

JDS was able to fight with the injury at UFC on Fox 1 against Cain Velasquez. He beat Velasquez on national television by first-round knockout. Fans did not find out about the injury to JDS’ knee until after the fight.
